Jimmy Powers Dynamos to Charity Shield final

Power Dynamos have progressed to the finals of the Charity Shield after they beat 10 man Zanaco 1 – 0 in a game played at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Jimmy Ndhlovu first half goal was the difference on the day.

The second game between Zesco United and Nkana was abandoned after the pitch became unplayable owing to heavy rains.

The game will be replayed tomorrow (Sunday) at the same venue and 90 minutes will be completed.

The teams will be allowed to change the players but the booking incurred will be carried forward in the game to be replayed.

  1. guys lets stop overhyping ourselves. we yap toooo much. lets sit, restrategise and see the results first. our west african friends will always be miles ahead. luk how many players from that nigerian u 17 hav made it to european teams. we can insult them night and day but at the end they are our masters. am betting under twenty it will be the same story. their mouths and our mouths will go blazing, but wen its time to play football …

  2. @ stumpy I agree with you on that one but this under 17 bunch is talented. What failed us here is Kalusha. These boys were tired when they played guinea. These are small boys aged 14-16. They cannot play a game when they arrive 24 hours before. Kalu has to take the blame for this failure and the national team. Kalu has refused to advertise the coaching job. He continues camping the boys in South Africa he’s killing our football. He is to blame for some of our failures. On another note west Africa seems to be better than us. We have failed to cope with them.

  3. One thing I can tell u is kalu is corrupt. Why the team is constantly camping in sa we don’t know. Does his wife also benefit from him being fa president? Corrupt things are going on in that faz I tell you. We need to change our fa president.

  4. The team has been camping in sa for long I’m now suspicious. A lot of analysts said zambia would go out of the afcon in EG simply because they camped in southern Africa while everyone else was camped in europe or west Africa. Drc was camped in Cameroon. Kalu can’t even bring us a proper coach. Why is he failing to advertise the job of coach. Our under 17 is good kalu got us knocked out when he made those boys travel late.

  5. in 2013 and 2015,zambia was eliminated in the first round of afcon.in 2015,zed u~17 was eliminated in the first round of this same caf event.in the same year, the fate of the u~20 is shaky, and kalu is still in post? this cant happen in ghana..he would have resigned long ago..nigeria fired their fa president despite of reaching wc 2nd round..our fa president is being called to resign by some media..zambians,you are cowards!
it seems you dont know your power to make decisions..southern africans always tolerate mediocrity.no wonder S.A prez in 1985 insulted all black africans based on his sample observation of his people.IN FOOTBALL,WHAT HAPPENS ON THE PITCH IS A REFLECTION OF WHAT HAPPENS OFF FIELD (THATS THE MANAGEMENT)

  6. If the zambia under 2o fail to qualify for the world cup kalu should honourable and step down. Every team we send to a competition is bundled out in round 1.

  7. @Sir Blessings, football don’t work like that. You can’t be sure of anything when going to a competition. Look at these 3 scenarios:
1 Most zambia said they are going to afcon to win the cup, the country couldn’t record a win.
2 Same thing happened with your u-17 team, some were boasting of qualification to world cup but we all know the result now.
3 If anyone had told We Nigerians that we won’t be part of Afcon, we wouldn’t have believed him.
You are going to the competition to compete against 8 teams no one can predict anything. All you can do is to wish the team goodluck and hope for the best.

  8. My bruder from Nigeria am trying to get the result from your dream team the U23 vs Gabon,Any idea what the results were yesterday?

  9. @Frank. Nigeria defeated them 4-1 in their backyard in the all africa game qualifier.

    FT: Gabon U-23 1-4 Nigeria U-23
    Junior Ajayi 2′ (0-1)
    Etebo Oghenekaro 44′ (0-2)
    Junior Ajayi 48′(0-3)
    Meyer Axel 56′ (1-3)
    Onyx Peter 90+2(1-4)

  10. We are just content with staying in shanty compounds that’s all,one needs to have targets and goals in life to get something in life which seems not to be case with these Zambian players.

  11. This article is about power dynamos but people are busy discussing the under 17 as if there’s no news for them somewhere else, it just shows how ignorant many people are coz they can’t deal with issues at hand, instead they just let their emotions overcrowd their analysis abilities .

  12. SOUTH AFRICA U17 HAVE QUALIFIED TO THE WORLD CUP.GOOD PLANING PAYS. ZAMBIA SHOULD TAKE A LEAF FROM OUR BROTHERS IN SOUTH AFRICA. THAT TEAM IS JUST LIKE OUR TEAM, BUT OUR PLANING IS PROBABLY THE WORST IN AFRICA.

  13. Well done Power. Sorry Duncadinho, but I have to agree that FAZ is a problem. Puss poor planning is costing Zambia and all we do is nod our heads and follow. World cup qualifier vs Ghana in Kumasi…team was training in a parking lot. Cape Verde AFCON qualifier, AFCON itself, now the U17 probably the best assembled in a long time flew into Niger and had to play a match with little rest or acclimatization, and the team lost, but then we expected them to beat Nigeria…smdh. How many times can you fail to plan before we the fans react.

  14. The logistics were a major screw up for sure once again thanks to FAZ… but lets weigh things and try and look at things from another angle. Yes our game against Guinea was messed up cause of FAZ usual shambolic logistics but then again, our game against Nigeria we were just whipped clean…no arguments there about arrangements or anything so truth be told if we can not match up to Nigeria we would not have matched up to anybody else even at the tournament because that is the level of soccer the lads would have found at the world cup. Lose now or lose later does it really make a difference?? We just need to up our game. We need to place more focus on getting quality coaches for the junior teams. We seem to think its ok to get untested coaches for the junior sides and only focus on high coaching standards for the senior team.

    • Big Steve, I beg to disagree. The difference in this case is that the first game was lost on the plane ride to Niger. With adequate camping and preparation this team could be in the semi finals right now.

I read something the other day that basically said, “a true leader does not ask someone to turn sand into water and then punish them when they fail.” This is what FAZ has been asking of coaches as of late.

Zero preparations, camp in SA for an assignment in West Africa, and then when they fail we sit here and say we need a better qualified coach. Is that honestly fair?

  15. am expecting alot from the under 20. i hope they bring us smiles together with the under 23. the two teams must undo the shame the under 17 and senoir team has brought on this nation

  16. The Zambia U-20 will leave 4 Senegal on 28th March 2015 and play a friendly against the hosts on 2nd March 2015 to prepare for the tornament which kicks off on 8th March 2015.
For this one Zambia will have enough time to acclimatize. Hope there will be no changes in travel arrangements and Faz will stick to this planned programn. Its time to beat Ghana and Mali badly in our group. No excuses!!!!

  17. mumbi, did you read your post? “zambia u20 will leave on 28th march and play a friendly with the host on 2nd march”..as such errors are in your post,so is your prediction.LOL,DONT START DREAMING,FOR YOU ALWAYS BUILD CASTLE IN THE AIR..IF ZAMBIA U20 BEAT GHANA U20,I WONT COMMENT HERE AGAIN,TWEAAA.Go to youtube and watch ghana u20’s clips.try maybe south africa

  18. Thanx Ghanaboy for your correction. Actually it was a typing error. Its 28th February they are leaving for Senegal. If Zambia beats Ghana, don’t walk naked for 2 weeks like noni naija 1st son.

  19. THE Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) has banned sports associations, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) inclusive, from directly seeking for assistance from the Ministry of Sports.
Additionally, the SCZ will now be directing associations to draw up strategic plans before they can start accessing Government funds.
SCZ acting general secretary, Innocent Chalabesa said it was not in order for associations to bypass the Council, which is a Government’s wing on sports administration, to ask for assistance.
Chalabesa said the concern and proposal was raised during a meeting held with Sports Minister, Vincent Mwale last week. He said Mwale agreed with the stance taken by the SCZ.

“So as from now, it does not matter whether an association official knows the minister personally, but as long as the reason for going to the ministry has got to do with sports, they will have to come to us here first. This is for all associations and yes, it includes the FAZ,” Chalabesa said.
He said Mwale also urged the SCZ to start finding other sources of funding other than through the Government monthly grants.
Chalabesa said as a result, the SCZ will start meeting the corporate world to see how well they can partner in the development of sports in the country.
But FAZ general secretary, George Kasengele declined to comment on the new development.
On the need for strategic plans, Chalabesa said the minister ordered that for any association to draw money from Government, they will need to come up with a viable strategic plan as this was the only way sport will develop.
“It’s either the associations present a workable strategic plan or they will not be accessing any money from Government. The issues of transparency, accountability, discipline and openness will play in heavily.
“As former chairperson of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), he has warned that he would be very strict with associations’ use of public funds which they have to be accountable for,” he said.

    • This is a good development. It sounds good because there will be checks and balances between Government and sports associations, but it might be a problem in practice because now SCZ will become the middle man which may increase the time frame for decision making and also put room for more hands to touch government funds. Its good on paper, but let us see how it works. I like this Mwale chap, he is not about bandaid solutions; the only way to change thought and culture is to fix the process and this is a positive step in that.

  20. Fish, Grilled Havana Style
Source: Three Guys from Miami: Cuban Food with Attitude
    Serves: 4
2 pounds fish filets, with skin on (Grouper, Salmon, Kingfish, Tuna, Tilapia)
    Marinade:
    1/4 cup olive oil
    6 garlic cloves
    1 medium onion
    1 tsp. cumin
    1 tsp. oregano
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 cup fresh cilantro
    Juice of one lime
    2 tbsp. vinegar
    1/4 cup white wine

Run all of the marinade ingredients through the blender until the onions are finely chopped.

Place filets in a shallow dish and pour marinade on top. Marinate 2 to 4 hours in the refrigerator, but no longer! Otherwise you’ll have pickled fish! Make sure your grill is well oiled and the coals are hot and ready.

Place the filets on the grill skin side up, just long enough to put some nice grill marks on the flesh. Then carefully use a steel spatula to flip the filets skin side down. Cover your grill and continue cooking until fish flakes with a fork. Keep an eye on them so they don’t burn! Salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Cubans frequently use marinades to infuse meat or fish with delicious spices. This recipe works great with just about any type of fish filet. Make sure to leave the skin on. The skin will keep the filets from shrinking and will keep the fish from sticking to the grill. Once the fish is done, you can easily remove the skin before serving, or leave it on if you like!

  21. Respect Southern Africa for what. Wait for defeating Nigeria i guess.
You can’t be serious on that. Yes painful that we(nigeria) lost but it doesn’t change anything west African team are way better than Southern teams.
Well african cup is lost again for us, time to shift our attention to the world cup in Chile.
We lost the caf cup too in 2013 but went on to perform exceptionally well in World cup.
Congrats to South Africa, hope you guys perform well in world cup. Don’t be like Ivory coast of 2013 that won the u-17 african cup but a disgrace in the u-17 world cup.
