Zambia captain Barbra Banda has been named in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 Team of the Tournament despite the Copper Queens’ early exit.
Banda was included in the official Best XI, selected by the CAF Technical Study Group, following a standout individual campaign in which she scored five goals and provided one assist in Zambia’s group-stage matches.
The 26-year-old forward was Zambia’s leading attacking threat throughout the tournament, with her performances earning her a place in a 4-3-3 formation alongside some of Africa’s standout players.
Banda is the only Zambian selected in the 11-player team, which features representatives from five nations.
Cameroon lead the selection with four players, while Morocco, Algeria and Malawi have two representatives each.
Banda’s inclusion comes despite Zambia failing to progress from the group stage, highlighting the impact of her individual performances.
Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, who scored five goals and registered two assists, was named in midfield and finished as the tournament’s top scorer, while Cameroon’s Monique Ngock was named Player of the Tournament.
Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina won the Best Goalkeeper award, while defender Myriam Nyadjou was named Best Young Player.
Cameroon coach Valentine Nguele was named Coach of the Tournament.
