Zambian striker Kingstone Mutandwa made a late appearance as Cagliari began their new Serie A campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Mutandwa was introduced in the 86th minute, helping Cagliari see out the narrow win and start the season on a positive note.
Compatriot Joseph Liteta was named among the substitutes but remained on the bench for the entire match.
The result gives Cagliari an important three points on the opening weekend as the Sardinian side look to build a strong campaign.
For Mutandwa, the cameo represents another opportunity to establish himself in Cagliari’s first-team setup, while Liteta will be hoping for his chance in the matches ahead.
