Chambishi edge Mufurila Wanderers to Superleague qualification on the final day

Chambishi Football Club on Saturday qualified for the 2021/22 MTN Super League joining Konkola Blades, Kafue Celtic, and Kansanshi Dynamos following a 1-0 win over ZESCO Malaiti Rangers.

Chambishi went into the match needing a win to seal qualification as Mighty Mufulira Wanderers was hot on their heels with the same points with only goal difference separating the two in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Chambishi missed a chance to go ahead after they were awarded a penalty but Kelvin Chomba converted their second penalty to make sure Chambishi win the game and qualify for the Super League.

Mighty Mufulira Wanders’ season ended in tears despite beating Champions Konkola Blades 1-0 at Shinde Stadium they finished just outside the top four and will have to try their luck at Super League qualification next season.

Konkola Blades despite the loss were crowned Champions having already amassed 69 points. Katie Celtic came out second with 65 points.

Elsewhere, City of Lusaka beat Trident 1-0 thanks to a lone strike from former Nkana striker Emmanuel Kalala.

Kansanshi Dynamos were held to a 1-1 draw ZESCO Shockers while Nchanga Rangers beat FC MUZA 2-0.
