Assistant coach Dennis Makinka says Kansanshi Dynamos are determined to secure maximum points when they host Green Buffaloes in a crucial MTN Super League Week 31 encounter in Solwezi on Saturday.
The Mabanga Boys head into the fixture 12th on the table with 35 points, sitting just five points above the relegation zone. A commanding 3-0 victory over FC MUZA in their previous outing has, however, injected momentum at a critical stage of the campaign.
“Playing Green Buffaloes is never easy, but we are preparing to get maximum points, especially at home,” Makinka said. “Looking at the table, if we are to move away from the relegation pack, we need to collect all the points available. That is our focus.”
With another league match scheduled for next Wednesday, Makinka highlighted the importance of squad rotation and game management as the season enters its decisive phase.
“We have enough depth in the squad. In the last match, we utilised all five substitutions and managed players carefully,” he explained. “We will continue with that approach. Everyone understands our tactics and system, so we are confident that whoever comes in can deliver.”
The hosts have a minor injury concern, with midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu facing a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the win over MUZA.
“Kapumbu is the only doubt at the moment. We will assess him and make a final decision before the game,” Makinka added.
Green Buffaloes arrive in Solwezi 10th on 38 points, three ahead of Kansanshi, following a narrow 1-0 win over Green Eagles.
Despite their higher league standing, recent head-to-head statistics favour the hosts: Kansanshi have won five of the previous 11 meetings, with Buffaloes claiming just one victory and five matches ending in draws.
