Two England based U20 players summoned

Zambia U20 national team technical bench have summoned two England based youngsters Mwiya Malumo who plays for one of Wigan athletic youth teams and Lifumpa Mwandwe of Shrewsbury town. First Assistant coach Charles Bwale confirmed the development.

The two youngsters will join the team by the end of this week in readiness for the Niger 2019 AFCON U20 qualifier against Rwanda.

“There is room for us to call two guys from England. Mwiya Malumo who plays for Wigan Athletic U18 and Lifumpa Mwandwe of Shrewsbury town. They are likely to join the team by friday,” Bwale said.

The only remaining member of the 2017 triumphant side Edward Chilufya may not join the team as his club is not willing to release him.

” As for Edward Chilufya his club is not willing to release him but the authorities are doing everything possible to have him join his team mates before the Rwanda match,” He said.

Zambia will have a friendly match with Malawi on Wednesday or Thursday before connecting to Johannesburg, South Africa where they will play two friendly games.

Zambia will face Rwanda on 11th May in Kigali before hosting them a week later with the winner over the two legs progressing to the final round of qualification for the Niger 2019 U20 AFCON.

      • Not sure its facebook and whatsapp, Zamfoot havent been helpful aswell. They post stories as they wish and are generally not current. They are nolonger a soccer news site. They where a vibrant site, attracting attention, not just locally, but internationally. Nigerians, Ghanains, Ugandas, Malawians where not just regular visitors but active contributors aswell. Zamfoot, what happened. Imagine, for Zambian soccer, even Lusaka Times now beat you!!!!

    • And national team. We had 4 top performers at U20 AFCON Winning. He was one of them, all are in Europe. One may come back because he plays like a villager when he comes home. He can work for an assist. Even Mesi does.

  1. Great move though the boys are in academy football efforts should have been made to call up Frankie Musonda at Luton Town he at least is playing competitive soccer

  2. Search more of these guys who are in diaspora to come feature for the national team as long as they are talented.We need to have a very strong foundation for as to qualify for the world cup one day.

  3. This is a good move in casting a wide net for talent. I honestly think that the youth teams of today should be planning on qualifying for the U20 world cup and then the senior world cup 2022 in Qatar.

    FAZ should be formulating a plan for 2022 world cup qualification right now. That plan should also include a plan for a coach to get the job done
