Nkoloma Stadium will on Thursday, March 1 host the semi final match of this year’s Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Community Shield between Zanaco FC and record holders Nkana FC at 14h00.
Initially the match was supposed to be played on March 3 but change has been necessitated by Nkana’s involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Chabab Riadhi Belouizdad Football Club slated for 6th March 2018 in Algeria.
Zanaco are coming from a 3-1 win over Gambia Armed Forces in CAF Confederations Cup while Nkana silenced Kenya’s Nakumatt FC 4-0 in pre-season friendly match.
Nkana have won the shield a record 15 times since it’s introduction while Zanaco have won it 3 times.
Last year, Kalampa outclassed the Bankers 3-0 at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium in the same competition.
This will be an opportunity for Sensational Zanaco to avenge the 3-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Nkana as they prepare to bag their first silverware this season.
Zanaco and Nkana will use Thursday’s match as a preparation ahead of their big continental matches against Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland and CR Belouizdad of Algeria respectively.
Meanwhile, the match involving Charity Shield defending Champions Zesco United and Napsa Stars will go on as planned on March 3 at the same venue.
In 2017, Zesco overcame 10-man Nkana 2-0 in Charity Shield final at Levy Mwanawasa thanks to a second half brace by forward John Ching’andu.
