Kabwe Warriors seek response as Power Dynamos arrive in top-of-the-table clash

By Angela Bambala Bwalya

Kabwe Warriors will look to bounce back from their recent 3-1 defeat to Red Arrows when they host league leaders Power Dynamos at Railway Stadium on Wednesday (15:00 local time).

The Magnificent People’s Team head into the fixture aware of the magnitude of the task, but assistant coach Jackson Mwanza insists preparations have left them ready to compete against one of the division’s most consistent sides.

“As you know Power Dynamos is a big team with a big fan base,” Mwanza said. “It’s not going to be an easy task. It will be a very difficult one. But as Kabwe Warriors we’ve prepared very well for them. Of course we want to get positive results.”

Despite the respect afforded to the visitors, Mwanza made it clear that Warriors will not abandon their attacking intent.

“We will approach the game with consciousness, with so much respect, but we are not just going to sit because we are giving them respect. We are going to play according to our plan, which is wanting to get a good result,” he added.

There is also belief within the Warriors camp drawn from previous encounters between the two sides.

“We are very much confident. We’ve played them before. They know maybe our strengths and weaknesses, but we are confident that we are going to carry the day.”

Mwanza also called on supporters to turn out in numbers at Railway Stadium.

“To the fans, I just urge them to come in numbers to support the boys and hopefully the boys will give them a positive result.”

Power Dynamos arrive in Kabwe in formidable form. The Kitwe giants sit top of the table with 58 points from 26 matches and have lost just once in their last 17 games across all competitions, underlining their dominance at a decisive stage of the season.

In contrast, Kabwe Warriors occupy fourth place on 43 points from 27 matches. Their recent run has been mixed, with two wins, two defeats and a draw in their last five outings, and they will be eager to steady their campaign after the setback against Red Arrows.

History also favours the visitors. Power Dynamos are unbeaten in the last five meetings between the sides, recording three wins and two draws. Kabwe Warriors’ last victory in this fixture dates back to 2023.
