Power Dynamos have opened a seven point lead at the summit of the MTN Super League while Nkana, Nkwazi and Green Eagles recorded wins.
A brace from Kenyan international Moses Shumah in the opening eleven minutes gave Power Dynamos a commanding lead early on.
The quick fire brace took Shumah’s goal tally to 20 goals to become the first player in the MTN Super League to hit that tally since Idris Ilunga Mbombo in 2018.
Daniel Adoko made it 3-0 in the 27th minute to put the match beyond the Magnificent People’s team before halftime.
Power Dynamos were forced to play the last few minutes with 10 players after Lawrence Mulenga was sent off for handling the ball outside the 18-yard box. With all 5 substitutions utilized, Owen Tembo became the Goalkeeper and immediately produced a superb reflex save off the resulting setpiece.
The win takes Abayellow to 61 points, opening a seven point lead.
Elsewhere, Nkana came from a goal down to beat Mines United 3-1.
Harrison Chisala leveled matters after Luka Ng’uni had put Mines United in the lead. A double from substitute Davy Daka gave Nkana the much needed maximum points ending a five match winless run.
The win takes Kalampa to eleventh place with 34 points.
At Arthur Davies Stadium, Derrick Bulaya scored the only goal of the game as Green Eagles saw off Mutondo Stars 1-0. The win takes Eagles to 41 points.
Nkwazi have moved out of the relegation zone after a 2-1 win over NAPSA Stars.
Adrian Chama scored the winner after Carlos Kaoma’s opener was canceled out by Habib Kyombo. The win takes Nkwazi to 14th place with 30 points.
