Zambia U17 Women’s National Team have stormed the semifinals at the ongoing COSAFA U17 Girls Championship in Namibia.
This follows the Copper Princesses 9-0 thrashing of Mauritius to finish top Group B.
Zambia started slow with the front line hurrying their decisions and the goalkeeper, Marie Cedrielle Begue making good saves.
Gift Chisha Mazimba put Zambia in the lead in the 20th minute with a headed goal.
Hellen Banda doubled the lead with a well taken free kick four minutes before skipper Ruth Mukoma could go round the goalkeeper Begue to increase the advantage and send Zambia to the break with a comfortable lead.
At the break coach Carol Kanyemba made two changes introducing Mary Nyangu for Bukata Kakumbi and Esther āZootopiaā Makoti for Beatrice Njobvu.
Makoti needed just three minutes to make a mark as she thumped a powerful shot into the roof of Begueās goal off a brilliant Faith Kaunda assist.
Hellen Banda grabbed her second of the match in the 65th minute with a beautiful side foot finish after being set up by Natasha Kasema.
Luyando Foundation Girls skipper Precious Mwape netted her first goal of the tournament with a powerful low shot from outside the box.
Hellen Banda completed her hat-trick in the 76th minute with a fine finish before Mwape could grab her brace four minutes later with a fine header.
Substitute Esther Ngabwe got on the end of a brilliant Faith Kaunda free kick to seal the win.
The win means Zambia have qualified to the semifinals and will face the winner of Group C.

Hellen Banda was named as the player of the match thanks to her brilliant performance.

New FAZ President council Keith Mweemba should be extremely careful how to handle the issue of Mr. Fashion Sakala with care, the young man can equally do it to you as well. Avram is an elderly man who deserves to be respected and equally your predecessor. As such critically analyse his issue very well. Let the coach accept him back as sense of reconciliation not FAZ President in person you will make a mistake. The tenure of Avram as head coach Zambia saw un precedent improvement. That’s my advice,
People who write anonymously are bad elements. Why hide your identity. It means you don’t mean well. There is nothing wrong in simply saying we need Fashion back into the squad and that both the young man and the coach must find common ground and we move forward. There should be no cases of FAZ President meeting the Coach alone and make promises to him and Fashion alone and make promises to him. Leaders who act like that are bad. A good leader brings the warring parties together and listen to them as they are facing each other. The liar is easily caught. Or they may not even attend the meeting. They give excuses. Mr. Mweemba needs to take that stance and we will know who has been a bad element in our football family. Thank you.

Congratulations team
Anonymous anonymously condemning the Anonymous and remains anonymous like our last convincing performances by any of the male teams representing the nation in games that matter.
U17 qualification to the World Cup was sheer lack. Those boys will go nowhere with their talent if not careful.
Endless opportunities are in maximizing potential for more games = more playing time + more visibility.
So far, from the last Afcon u17 only Kalimina made an impact…
