Young Chipolopolo bow out of AFCON after humiliation at the hands of Burkina Faso

The Zambia U17 National team has bowed out of the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 following a humiliating 6-1 bashing at the hands of  Burkina Faso.

The emphatic win at the El Arbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca reaffirmed Burkina Faso’s title credentials, as they outclassed the Young Chipolopolo in every department to reach the last four — repeating their achievement from the 2023 edition in Algeria.

Burkina Faso started the match off to a good start with Mohamed Fofana heading in just eleven minutes into the match, the defense in sixes and sevens, allowing a very poor goal.

Asharaf Tabsoba doubled the lead with a 21st minute strike before Abel Salim Nyirongo could pull one back.

Zambia had a number of clear cut chances with Nyirongo misses about three seaters.

Halidou Diakite took over with a brace before Tabsoba could complete his hat-trick with two late strikes, 6-1 the match finished.

Having already sealed their qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup before this match, Burkina Faso now turn their focus to reaching their second U-17 AFCON final, as they chase a second continental crown, following their 2011 triumph.

For Ian Bakala and the Young Copper Bullets it’s time to return home and reorganize to start preparations for the World Cup.
