What could have ended in tragedy has become a story of resilience, gratitude, and hope.
Nearly three months after a road accident involving Chiko Stars Academy’s boys’ and girls’ teams, the academy is preparing to celebrate not only the end of the football season but also the unwavering support it received from the Chikoka community during one of its most difficult moments.
On 9 May 2026, the academy was involved in a road accident while travelling to Chikupi for sports fixtures. Although the incident left the team shaken, all those on board survived, thanks to what many described as a miracle and the swift support of parents, community members, and other well-wishers.
To mark that journey from adversity to recovery, the academy will hold a season-end celebration on 3 August 2026 at Chikoka Community Hall in Mungu Ward. The event seeks to bring together players, parents, sponsors, and members of the community in a show of appreciation for the solidarity that carried the academy through the difficult period.
The celebration is also intended to encourage the young players to keep believing in their dreams despite the challenges they have faced. Beyond recognising the season’s achievements, the gathering will serve as a reminder that sport is strengthened by communities that stand together in times of need.
To make the event possible, the academy is appealing for support from individuals, local businesses, and community leaders. A budget of K5,000 has been set to cater for food, refreshments, and other event logistics, with donations in cash or kind welcome.
Every contribution, regardless of its size, will help restore smiles on the faces of the young athletes while celebrating a community whose support made a lasting difference.
