Walter brace leads Nkana come back as they go top

Walter Bwalya scored a brace to help Nkana FC come from behind to win 3 – 1 against visiting Green Eagles.

The visitors stunned the hosts with a goal right after the start of the game but Bwalya restored parity and scored another to shoot to the top of the top scorers chart and help his team maintain a 100% record with 2 out of 2 wins.

Veteran midfielder Simon Bwalya scored the other goal.

In Chingola, Nchanga Rangers recovered from the loss at the hands of Lusaka Tigers in Lusaka last week to punish Kitwe giants Power Dynamos 2 – 1.

Nchanga did not allow the visitors to settle and were ahead as early as the 1st minute through Bwalya Kasonde before Chongo Chirwa added another in the 30th minute.

Power scored a face saver despite their poor show through Julius Situmbeko in the 40th minute.

In Lusaka, 2015 runners-up Zanaco got their 2016 campaign to a perfect start by beating newly promoted Lusaka Tigers 2 – 0. Zanaco had very few scares as Tigers seldom saw sight of goal but the bankers remained wasteful for most parts of the game with hardworking Dave Daka being the main culprit.

The best chance of the first half fell to Daka when went round the goalkeeper but saw his shot cleared off the line by the recovering defender.

Daka again missed a good chance in the second half when he planted his header off the mark when it seemed easier to find the net from inside the 6 yard box.

Potipher Zulu gave Zanaco the lead in the 70th minute with a low drive on the edge of the box and Daka’s persistence paid off in injury time when he scored from a cross delivered by Zanaco’s outstanding winger Charles Zulu.

In the early kickoff, A dull affair between Lusaka Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors ended goalless in a game the visitors from Kabwe looked the better side.

Former Nkana FC players Claude Bwalya and Perry Mubanga featured for Warriors with Bwalya putting up an outstanding performance at the heart of the Warriors midfield.

Elsewhere, newly promoted Lumwana Radiants made history as the first team from Northwestern province to play in the elite league and they did not disappoint as they managed to get a point off 10 man Red Arrows.

Bruce Musakanya opened the scores in the first half before Arrows were reduced to 10 men after Benedict Chepeshi received a second yellow.

Radiants however fought back and managed to score through Lebanon Lungu. Arrows will have goalkeeper Danny Munyao thank for picking a point as he had an outstanding game to keep the home team at bay.

On the table, nothing separates Red Arrows and Lumwana in 10th and 11th positions as well as Kabwe Warriors and Nakambala in 12th and 13th position.

At Shinde stadium, Mufulira Wanderers Mike Katiba and Austin Banda were both on target to help Mighty move into second position on 4 points after they beat Nkwazi 2 – 1.

    • He is Zambian…a striker we should watch out this season.he is. blessed with the ability of kalengo and if properly natured he will be our next undisputed goal poacher.

  1. Walter shouldn’t be Zambian or chicken cud have called him already, ba nakambala survived a serious scare from forest as they were a better side the whole 90 min, forest are just poor at goal

  2. Congo’s tactics of changing venue of tomorrows game but those tactics will not work. It will be like the way the sudanase did in the world cup qualifier and we hammered them.

    • Get your facts first before typing. They have actually moved the match to a much bigger and better stadium, in the mould of Nou camp.

  3. Off topic a bit: The overcrowding at Nigerians Kaduna Stadium is something very risk and we must watch out as Africans. A Stadium of 25000 capacity got in around 40000 with some our dear Nigerians on roofs. Remember we lost one or two lives the time our Chipolopolo won the Afcon. Free entry into Stadia in high profile games like was the case in the games involving Zambia & Congo and Nigeria & Egypt must be stopped henceforth. The best is to reduce the fees than free! Soon a lot of things will be damaged besides risking precious lives of soccer fans. God bless us that nothing bad happened but nothing should be taken for granted. Backbto topic, congrats to all the winners this weekend in the ZPL. Also viva to our Chipolopolo tomorrow. Shalom
