Tripple C game for Equatorial Guinea

Chipolopolo forward Cletus Chota Chama has implored his teammates to beat Equatorial Guinea in Thursday’s Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier in Malabo.

The Moroccan based midfielder has also urged his teammates not to slip up in the return leg at Lusaka’s National heroes Stadium on Sunday.

The 30 year old is one the three foreign players who have joined the national team training base in Doula, Cameroon.

Chama’s former Simba FC teammate Rally Bwalya and Russian based striker Evans Kangwa are the other two.

“I am looking forward to helping the team according to what the coach has planned for every player in the team. The games are tight and are both coming in a space of three days,” the RS Berkane foward said.

“The first game is always important because a good result in the first game will give us momentum to take into the final leg.

” So, we have to ensure we utilise the first leg to our fullest so that it makes things a lot easier for the final leg.”

The Mansa native is one the senior players in the team and his experience on Thursday will be valuable.

“This time around we are starting away again so we should ensure we win away.  But should not slip up again in the home game but let us take it step by step over the next two games,” the former Zesco United and Lusaka Dynamos said.

Chama, missed the match day 1 win over Mauritania due to visa complications but his late substitute cameo against Tunisia on match day 2 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium won plaudits from many Chipolopolo faithful.

While the Heroes Stadium will not be to full capacity, Chama has also asked his teammates to provide the 20,000 fans on Sunday ‘with the best entertainment possible and the results that they wish for.’

“It has been a long time since the fans have watched their national team at the stadium and it is great to have them back. From our side we are looking forward to having them around again and provide them with the best entertainment possible and the results that they wish for.”

CAF 2004 African Cup of Nations Champions Tunisia lead the group on 6 points while Equatorial Guinea and Zambia are on 3 points while Mauritania are bottom.
