Copper Queens assistant coach Charles Haalubono says the FIFA Series Tournament provided a platform for the Copper Queens to see where they can improve.
Haalubono was speaking after the Copper Queens played to a 1-1 draw with South Korea at Arena Pantanal. The Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club head coach was quick to highlight the level of intensity.
Haalubono was also happy for the newcomers who have now gotten experience and understanding of how high level football works.
“The tournament has given us a platform to see where we can improve. Looking at the teams whom we have played against. They are so good, you know, exposed to high levels of competition, facilities, you know everything is in order,” he said.
“So even, the intensity of play is so high, we need to go and work hard when we go back to Zambia.”
“Also it has helped us to give experience to our players, those who are playing for the first time, given an opportunity to know and understand the kind of intensity that is here,” he added.
Zambia fell 4-0 to Canada before suffering a 6-1 loss to hosts Brazil and wound up the Tournament with a 1-1 draw with South Korea.
The Copper Queens were using the FIFA Series tournament as part of preparation for the Women Africa Cup of Nations to be played in July/August in Morocco with top four teams qualifying for the FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Brazil.
