TRENDING: Should Zambia rejoice Zimbabwe’s pending ban?

Zimbabwe’s participation in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations is in danger after the board of its football association (Zifa) was suspended by the country’s government-appointed Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) with immediate effect.

Should FIFA suspend Zimbabwe, then there’s a possibility of third placed Zambia to qualify for next year’s AFCON in Cameroon.

Febian Mponda Mushili writes

“How the might has fallen. When the tournament was just for 16 nations, we were a regular.

“But now it’s been expanded to 24 nations and we are failing qualify proper.

“Praying for a deserving nation to be disqualified? HONESTLY? We must be ashamed to even talk about that, Or even be happy.

Football writer and pundit Musonda ‘Ba Muzo’ Chibulu had this to say.

“Denmark once won the European championship after using the back door.’

Since then the Southern Africa powerhouse have now failed to qualify for three successive tournaments.

  1. First of all you ought to be ashamed for even publishing this article with the implied speculation. We did not make it to Afcon by simply being failures on the pitch. We do not deserve to be there and should not sit here wishing to cash in on the misfortune of others. We failed to make it and should not be entertained because we didn’t work for it. I’d rather they play one team short in the tournament than invite a team that has no business being there. We need to put our house in order. Kamanga should follow Chambeshi’s lead and resign also.

  2. What is there to rejoice? Zimbabwe worked hard and were more serious than Zambia. They deserve to be at AFCON 100times more than us. Despite their hardships they managed to do what Zambia to do with all the resources at their disposal. Shame on you writer of this article. You want us to celebrate at the expenses of our brothers misfortunes .. Delete this useless article

  3. Please let Zimbabwe go to AFCON. The deserve it and qualified on merit. Kamanga and his Executive should not ride on others misfortunes.
Zambia at the moment should be looking for a Good Coach. That should be NUMBER 1 priority for this Executive.
