Kansanshi Dynamos back Makinka as Fathi remains on leave

Kansanshi Dynamos have confirmed that head coach Mohamed Fathi remains away from first-team duties as he attends to academic commitments and personal matters.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the club said Fathi has been absent since their Week 22 fixture, adding: “Coach Fathi has been away from his duties since after our Week 22 fixture, as he attends to his academic commitments as well as other important personal matters.”

The club emphasised its support for the Egyptian tactician during this period, stating: “During this period, the Club has continued to offer its full support, ensuring he is given the necessary time to manage both his studies and personal responsibilities.”

Assistant coach Dennis Makinka has stepped in to lead the side and will remain in charge for the foreseeable future. The club confirmed: “In his absence, Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka has been in charge of the team and will continue in that capacity until the Head Coach returns to full duties.”

Despite the temporary change in leadership, Kansanshi Dynamos have maintained steady form in the league. Under Makinka, the team has recorded three wins from five matches, alongside one draw and one defeat — a run that has helped stabilise their position during a potentially disruptive period.

The club also acknowledged the role of its supporters, adding: “We thank our supporters and stakeholders for their continued understanding and support.”

The Mabanga Boys are currently 12th on the MTN Super League table with 32 points.
