Ronaldinho to lead FC Barcelona legends Zambia tour

Zambia will on 27th, May, 2023 host an Exhibition Match between Zambia legends and FC Barcelona legends at the National Heroes stadium in Lusaka.

This is according to a press statement by Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu accessed by the ZamFoot Crew. 

A number of  former Barcelona players have confirmed participation led by World Cup winner Ronaldo de Assis Moreira commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

Zambia will be using this match to market herself as a perfect destination for tourism and Economic investment.

BELOW IS THE PRESS STATEMENT:

I am greatly honored and privileged to host you all at this event to launch the hosting of FC Barcelona legends tour to the republic of Zambia which will culminate in an exhibition match with the Zambia Football legends on 27th May, 2023. 

Ladies and gentlemen, Iam extremely excited to inform you that the exhibition match will have the Zambian legend footballers play against FC Barcelona legends team with the following players having confirmed participation:Ronaldinho, Guillermo Amor, Juliano Belleti, Francesco Coco, Frank de Boer, Dani Garcia Lara, Frederick Dehu, Jose Edmilson, Santo Ezquerro, Gabrio, Giovanni, Guily, Goicoetxea, Jari Litmanen, Luis Garcia, Gaizeka Mendiata, Okunowo, Roger Garcia, Sergi Barjuan and Miquel Soler.

Ladies and gentlemen, You may wish to know that the event will be hosted in order to market Zambia as a destination for tourism and economic investment since Zambia is “now part of the Champions League” in all facets of Economic and Social Development.  

May I also take this opportunity to mention that the event is being organized by the King of Africa Sport in partnership with my ministry. 

Furthermore, I wish to inform you that my ministry will appoint the local organizing Committee that will spearhead the hosting of this event with membership drawn from both the public and private sectors. 

The Committee will oversee the fundraising and revenue, security, Logistics, Hospitality, Marketing and Public Relations in terms of managing the event. 

Ladies and gentlemen, With regard to the upcoming match, The Economic benefits that this exhibition match will bring to the Country cannot be overlooked.

Firstly, The match will be watched by a global audience as the television rights for the event will be sold to different Markets. 

Secondly, The content around the match is expected to be on IPTV platforms that have tens of Millions of subscribers such as Barca TV- among others. 

Thirdly, The Various Local Business sectors such as Transport, Accomodation and Food industries will benefit from hosting the F.C Barca Legends tour.
