Trident Queens struck deep into stoppage time to secure a commanding victory, while Green Buffaloes maintained the pressure at the top of the table during a dramatic round of midweek fixtures in the ZPL Women’s Super League.
Trident Queens produced the most emphatic finish of the day, scoring three second-half goals — including two in added time — to defeat Nkwazi Queens 3-0.
Elizabeth Chishimba opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 58th minute before late strikes from Meldrine Lukhelo (90+5’) and Florence Kasonde (90+6’) sealed a comprehensive win that lifts Trident to 41 points.
At the summit, Green Buffaloes Women FC kept their title ambitions firmly alive with a 2-1 win over Nchanga Rangers Queens.
Maylan Mulenga gave Buffaloes the lead on 41 minutes before veteran forward Rachel Nachula doubled the advantage in the 61st minute. Ivy Nambeye pulled one back just two minutes later, but Buffaloes held on to move to 71 points — just two behind leaders ZESCO Ndola Girls.
At the other end of the table, National Assembly Women boosted their survival hopes with a narrow 1-0 victory over ZANACO Ladies.
Naomie Mumba converted an 86th-minute penalty to secure a vital three points, lifting Assembly to 12th place on 29 points.
Green Eagles Women continued their strong run with a 2-0 win over Indeni Roses. Early pressure paid off when Margret Chisenga struck in the 5th minute, before Racheal Moono sealed the result in the 63rd minute to move Eagles up to fifth on 60 points.
The Elite Ladies edged Amazing Grace FC 2-1 in a closely contested encounter.
Matildah Mukunda gave Elite an early lead in the 6th minute, but Lweendo Hanongo levelled for Amazing Grace on 30 minutes.
Dorothy Mumba restored the advantage in the 55th minute, a goal that ultimately proved decisive as Elite climbed to 38 points.
There was also late drama in the draw between Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles Queens and YASA Queens, which ended 2-2.
YASA raced into a two-goal lead through Eunice Bwalya (28’, penalty) and Taonga Mubanga (29’), before a spirited comeback saw Memory Mambwe reduce the deficit in the 68th minute and Daines Mupaka equalise on 80 minutes.
Elsewhere, Konkola Blades Queens were awarded a 3-0 walkover victory after Chipata Girls failed to fulfil their fixture in Chililabombwe.
