Ratings: Red Arrows vs Primero de Agosto

Zambia’s envoys in the CAF Confederation Cup, Red Arrows on Saturday edged Angolan side, Primero de Agosto by a lone goal to take an advantage into the second leg.

2012 AFCON winner James Chamanga was the hero with a 36th-minute goal to earn the Airmen a well-deserved win at the National Heroes Stadium.

The ZamFoot Crew was on hand to witness the match and now rates the players’ performance in the second preliminary round first leg encounter.

1.YASIN MUGABI:7/10

The goalkeeper made two good saves and was very good when it came to cutting-out crosses. Mugabi was confident started Arrows build-up play from the back with his good footwork.

2. BENEDICT CHEPESHI:7/10

The Chipolopolo Boys’ right back was very solid and did not allow crosses coming from his flank. The skipper of the side showed a lot of leadership throughout the game.

PROSPER CHILUYA:6/10

The 2017 U-20 AFCON winner didn’t have too much to do defensively but was good going forward added numbers in attack.

The Kafue Celtic product could have otherwise done better on a couple of occasions with his delivery.

4.ELVIS BISSONG:6/10

A very solid defensive performance from the center back.

He made some good challenges to win back possession for his team.

5. TRESOR TSHIBWABWA:8/10

The Congolese defender was again a solid rock at the back and won almost all the 50/50 challenges he was involved in.

Tshibwabwa made some good defensive blocks and was confident enough to carry the ball from defense into midfield.

GEORGE SIMBAYAMBAYA: 7/10

The defensive midfielder controlled the temple of the game and kept possession very well for his team.

Simbayambaya did enough to protect his backline every time Agosto threw something at them.

7. CHRISPIN SAKULANDA:6/10

The former Mufulira Wanderers player made very intelligent runs and was always eager to run at defenders every time he got on the ball.

8. SADDAM YUSUF: 7/10

The Box to Box midfielder was vital in both areas (defensive and attacking). Saddam always looked to get on the ball and create for his team.

He gave both the defenders and strikers and options whenever the Airmen had possession.

9.JAMES CHAMANGA:9/10

A fantastic all-around play by the veteran striker who played the game like a young player despite being 41 years old.

Chamanga scored the all-important goal and held on to possession very well. Everything good about Arrows passed through him.

10. ALLASANE DIARRA:6/10

The midfielder got into good scoring positions but failed to deliver with one of his efforts cleared off the line.

The effort was however commendable as he pushed had to get into good positions.

11. ALIDOR KAYEMBE:7/10

The former Buildcon striker made a fantastic run to set up James Chamanga for the only goal of the game and always gave the defenders problems running in behind the defense.

SUBS:

FELIX BULAYA:5/10

Looked lively after coming on and made a couple of good runs to stretch the defense and create openings for the team

Edward Tembo and Ricky Banda were late sub’s hence not rated.

Arrows will be away to Agosto next weekend as they look to push for qualification to the next round of the Competition.

  1. How do you have foreign players in defence force teams. This practise means 5 of our young players are denied an opportunity to show case and improve their skills!
