Patson Daka eager to face Manchester United

Zambia national team striker Patson Daka is relishing the challenge of playing Manchester United this evening as the Foxes host the Red Devils at King Power Stadium.

Daka admits that things have not gone according to plan for Leicester City but believes the team keeps improving and working to get where they want to be.

Daka is yet to hit the ground running this season despite having had a brilliant preseason where he scored three goals and set up one in five games.

“It’s not been the start we hoped for or wanted. It’s been a time where, every day, we’re getting better, developing, and getting closer to what we want to achieve. I think, sometimes in life, it doesn’t go to plan, but how you react is what is more important,” Daka told Leicester City TV in an interview.

“Every day’s another chance for us to make a better reaction. It’s been a disappointing start, but it has passed. We have to look forward and make, now, a better start for us this season.”

“It’s a very brilliant and amazing game,” he explained. “It’s going to be a tough game. It’s always tough when you are against Manchester United. It’s also a game that you always look forward to as a player and it’s an amazing challenge. Everyone is looking forward to it,” he added.

Daka was an unused substitute for City at Chelsea on Saturday as the home side emerged as 2-1 winners despite being a man down for much of the clash. It was another game packed with frustrating flash points for Leicester, but Daka is optimistic.

“Luck just wasn’t on our side, to be honest. We created some chances in that game. We just didn’t get the goals that we wanted. Sometimes it’s like that and it doesn’t go the way you want it to go at times,” he said.

“We can take a lot of positives from that game – the way we finished the second half was good and we gave everything. It’s something we can build on into the next game.”

City holds a fantastic record in the recent past against Manchester United. Leicester is unbeaten in five games against the Red Devils, winning three.

The Zambian international scored his first goal for the Foxes in their last home win over them too, a six-goal thriller at King Power Stadium that saw Leicester City emerge victorious 4-2  over United.

“We are all ready and looking to get our first victory of this season. I believe we are going to do it. I would love for history to repeat itself (and to score against Man Utd) again. I am looking forward to the game,” Daka said.

“Those are the kind of moments which, as a player and as an individual, you look forward to in life. Hopefully, it can happen again. The first goal is always special, no matter how many you score. The first is always there, you’re going to remember it, and it will always be there with me. It’s a great motivation.”

Leicester City host Manchester United at King Power Stadium this evening with kick-off set at 21:00hrs.
