PATSON DAKA DOWNS UNITED

Patson Daka put in a game-changing shift and scored the fourth goal to help Leicester City seal a thrilling 4-2 home win and end Manchester United’s 30-match unbeaten away run.

The Chipolopolo striker put the disappointing performance on international duty to bed with an elite all-around showing, which saw him master 3 shots on target, with the third resulting in a goal.

Daka’s introduction in the 77-minute with the match at 1-1 immediately added fire power to host’s attack and stretched Manchester United’s Harry Maguire led defence.

Only on the field seconds, Daka stayed onside to latch onto Vardy’s through ball before hitting a low shot that De Gea saved with his legs before Maguire cleared it for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Leicester City made it 2-1. The ball played through from the corner found Daka unmarked in the box. He showed good composure to control the ball and fired a low shot that De Gea again saved with his legs. It bounced around in the box, hitting Perez before falling to Soyuncu, who made no mistake from close range.

With eight minutes of normal time left to play, United thought they had grabbed the equalizer courtesy of fit-again Rashford’s effort, only to see Leicester City quickly respond through Vardy’s finish a minute later.

There was enough time for Daka to put his name on the scoresheet, with it a place in the record books. In the first minute of stoppage time, a Tielemans curled free kick in sailed through to Daka at the far side, and after sorting his feet out, he tapped it over the line to make it 4-2, much to the jubilation of the Foxes fans and Zambian football fans.

In doing so, Daka became the first Zambian to score in the Premier League.

Today’s outstanding performance certainly gives Daka a huge confidence boost. He has so far played in two Premier League matches with Brendan Rodgers preferring to play Daka in the Europa League.

  1. Well done to Patson. The monkey is off his back now. He can now play with a free mind NOW. He was under so much pressure to get his 1st goal.
Patson,Mwepu & Fashion will make it just have that feeling.

He is still work in progress. EPL is tough. J.Sancho, T.Werner… present and D.Forlan, Di Maria past found it tough in the EPL. So many players… have failed.

Chambeshi was supposed to build his team on these 3 young men. Give them a good supporting cast with veterans like Sunzu, maybe Sinkala, A.Mulenga bring in the other Zambians in Europe we can list them and that other Tall well built young man from the US. Including E.Banda, E.Chilufya.

  2. Well done, Paty! There are more where that goal came. Your legs and head are full of goal. Let them rain torrentially now in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I wish the rest of your friends outside Zambia a fruitful outing.
