Nkana switch off ZESCO, Bulaya’s strike not enough as Kafue Celtic storm top four

Defending Champions, ZESCO United suffered their second loss of the season while Kafue Celtic edged Kansanshi Dynamos to break into the top four.

The MTN Super League week seven action continued on Saturday after starting off to an amazing take-off on Friday with Samu netting an incredible five goals to lead Green Buffaloes to a sixth straight win.

The big game of the day saw defending Champions, ZESCO makes a short trip to Kitwe to face off with record 13-time Champions, Nkana in a titanic clash.

Nkana took the lead in the 19th minute as Jacob Ngulube header past national team goalkeeper, Gregory Sanjase to put the hosts in the lead. Nkana was denied a clear penalty after Clement Mwape brought down Alex Ng’onga in the box but the referee waved off Nkana’s calls for a penalty.

ZESCO United had chances to level matters but they were let down by poor finishing with Chitiya Mususu being guilty of wasting their best chance. Nkana held on to win 1-0 and end a three-match winless run.

The win takes Nkana to 5th on the log with 9 points.

At Edwin Imboela, Mwiza Siwale scored a late goal to hand Kafue Celtic their third win of the season as they edged the Mabanga Boys, Kansanshi Dynamos 1-0.

The win takes the Crocs to fourth place with 11 points and a point adrift of third and second-placed Nkwazi and Buildcon with a further eight behind log leaders Buffaloes.

In Choma, Derrick Bulaya scored his first goal for Green Eagles but Shafiq Batambuzu and Jimmy Ndhlovu stole the show as they earned Kabwe Warriors just their second win of the season. The Kawale Boys remain winless at home.

Buildcon and Nkwazi played to a goalless draw to remain second and third on the log respectively. Konkola Blades and Chambishi also played out to a goalless draw.
