Mwepu on life in Europe

Enock Mwepu can safely be described as one of the discoveries of the last season. Having come to Salzburg just a year ago, the six-time Zambia international has played in the limelight at FC Liefering and has also had one or two strong talent appearances at FC Red Bull Salzburg.

Enock Mwepu has been in the field ten times for Marco Rose’s team – eight times in the Bundesliga, twice in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup – and has come up with five starting eleven sets in which he points out that he will be with him next season to count.

“My goal is to improve myself. I have to keep working hard and giving everything. The expectations for me have increased, so I have to do my best and improve both physically and mentally to get more minutes of use, “Enock knows exactly what he wants to focus on in training.

At first he is just happy to have made the leap to Europe:

“I am very happy with how fast everything went. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. I have always had this dream in my childhood and youth, that I can do it one day. There have always been hurdles and challenges along the way, but in retrospect, things have gone very well for me so far. Today I live my dream. ”
Enocks steep path uphill

Of course, Enock was particularly proud of his first appearances in the Bundesliga:

“It was great for me to get minutes of action in the Bundesliga. I worked hard for it and when the opportunity came I was very happy. Being able to help the team gave me a lot of self-confidence. I hope that further matches will follow in the Bundesliga, “he says modestly.

Enock Mwepu is seen by many as Zambia’s symbol of present and future

“Helping the team” was the midfield all-rounder, especially in the 30th round of the away game against Admira, when he got an assist and a great volley hit. Asked about this dream goal, he is still overjoyed:

“I was so happy about the result. I could not believe it. I looked at the hit every day and every time I thought, ‘Oh wow! Was that really me? ‘To score at my start-up debut was just outstanding. ”

Not least because of this hit the power curve shows steeply upwards. That’s why Enock rightly agrees positively with the development:

“With the development that I have made here in Salzburg over the past twelve months, I think I can be very satisfied. I really like the philosophy here, it pushes us players to bring top performance. Red Bull Salzburg is a very big club in Europe. The quality of the players is very high and there is a lot of competition in the team “, the 20-year-old Zambian finds only words of praise for our club and continues:

“FC Red Bull Salzburg is 100 percent the best club to start a professional career. The development that can be made here is enormous. ”

The development began for Enock but of course already at a very young age. About his beginnings as a young footballer he tells us:

“I play football since I can think. Near my hometown there is a football academy. That’s where I started playing football and got my nickname ‘The Computer’. The coach saw great potential in me and called me that. The nickname has remained until today. ”

In addition, “The Computer” proves that he is a very “smart lad” away from the football field with an unusual measure to counteract the frosty winter temperatures:

“When I came to Salzburg, I simply could not accept the weather in winter. That’s why I always let my gloves and football boots warm before playing. Otherwise I could not stand it “, Enock laughs himself about the idea.

Otherwise, he can not complain. Thanks to Patson Daka, whom he already knew from Zambia, he quickly found a connection. The two, who still live in the academy in Liefering, do much in common in their spare time:

“We are doing really well here. Most of the time we spend in the academy. But when we get bored, we just like to go for a walk, have a look around the city, or go eat something. I really like Salzburg, “concludes Enock once again, how happy he is about taking the step towards us.
