Mwepu completes Wada’s squad in Ghana as Chilufya is ruled out

Zambia U20 star midfielder Edward Chilufya will not be part of the Zambia national team that will play Nigeria on Saturday.

The Sweden based attacker failed to secure a visa as he is still working on his work permit.

The pulling out of the 18 year old implies that Wedson Nyirenda will be without three of the players he called to camp after striker Brian Mwila and another U20 midfielder Emmanuel Banda pulled out due to injury.

Meanwhile, all the players expected at the Chipolopolo camp in Accra Ghana have arrived except for Patson Daka who will join the team in Nigeria.

Austria based Mwepu was the last to join camp on Tuesday after skipper Kennedy Mweene joined camp on Monday evening.

Salzburg striker Patson Daka who picked a knock over the weekend stayed back in Austria to be observed by  the club’s medical team but will fly straight Nigeria on Wednesday.

Nyirenda will be sweating on the fitness on the 18 year old UEFA Youth Cup winner as he is expected to lead the line against the Super Eagles.

Zambia go into the match needing an outright win to have a chance of qualifying to the 2018 Russia World Cup.

The Chipolopolo play Nigeria on Saturday 7th October in Uyo.

    • If Fashion behaves, and Shonga grows up and dress with pants up… Then I see Nigeria 0- 3 Zambia.
      Fashion 1
      Shonga 1
      Mwepu 1

  1. Wrong heading … The Squad isn’t complete till Daka joins! Thinking loudly. It’s amazing that over a couple of months have passed a visa can’t still be arranged for Edward to travel. All the best to our Chipolopolo. Shalom

    • Boss, the Visa is for his base in Sweden-the work permit he has is expired,he couldn’t leave Sweden without securing it; so he is staying to sort out his papers

  2. Wada please, call suitable replacements for all these guys who are not going to play . Don’t make us have a defeatist attitude before the ball is kicked. Mwila , Chilufya are out whilst Daka is racing against time for fitness so bring in Kalaba, Kalengo n Sinkala to fill their shoes.

  3. The game is not only played in the pitch but also before that. Do what you can to destabilise your opponents even before the actual game, its part of tactics. Are you sure we don’t have capable Doctors with the team to handle Patson? The fact that he is just been observed, means its not a serious thing which we can take care of it.

  4. Analyse our Strikers called to Camp,Patson remained a threat to Nigeria after Mwila was ruled out, meaning Nigeria can be behind the holding back of the boy so that it works to their advantage.

  5. …Ist Hammer , now Tiger…???
.still .enough depth to hammer the eagles.
What sort of kit is available- Mafro was red-carded??

  6. THIS IS GETTING REALLY SERIOUS.WITH BARELY TWO WORKING DAYS BEFORE THE CRUNCH MATCH,A LOT OF HICUPPS ON TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS AND SOME PLAYERS FAILING TO MAKE THE TRIP.FIRST THE TEAM TRAVELLED IN BATCHES (WHAT A SHAME ),THEN MWILA BRIAN RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY,EMMANUEL BANDA NOT AVAILABLE,EDWARD CHILUFYA HAS TO REMAIN TO ORGAINZE HIS WORK PERMIT AND NOW PATSON DAKA IS BEING OBSERVED MEANING CHANCES ARE 50/50 OF HIM PLAYING.
WE HAVE BEEN ADVISING THE COACH TO PICK MORE STRIKERS BECAUSE IN AN EVENT THAT THE ALL THE ABOVE PLAYERS FAIL TO PITCH UP,THEN WE ARE IN LIMBO! THIS IS FOOTBALL AND ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.JUST LIKE FASHION SAKALA GOT A RED CARD IN LUSAKA,THE SAME THING CAN HAPPEN IN UYO WITH YET ANOTHER PLAYER,THEREFORE IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE ENOUGH REPLACEMENT ON THE BENCH BUT BECAUSE OF STUBBORNES,WE NOW ARE LET WITH ONLY ONE STRIKER IN ALEX NGONGA AND YET WE HAVE PLAYERS WHO CAN STILL SCORE LIKE MBESUMA,FWAYO,KALABA ETC.WELL WE CAN ONLY WAIT AND SEE AS THE PANICK BUTTON IS PRESSED.YOU DONT GO TO GUMMBLE IN WEST AFRICA.

    • This is seriously looking for things to blame the coach for….lol
The coach can only select so any players he cant just wake up and say he is selecting 100 players it doesn’t work that way and there is completely nothing wrong with the team travelling in batches.

This is soccer and in soccer players get injured, its part of the game. You now want to blame the coach for players getting injured surely!!! He selected them before they got injured, blame him only if he selects an already injured player.

And what do you mean we only have one striker Alex left, what is Justin Shonga is he not a striker? What is Fashion Sakala?

I’m not a fan of Wada but lets not be too quick to throw unnecessary shade on him even for things outside his control. The whole team arrived on time in Ghana for training, so what if they flew in batches. Cmon please!!

The only thing the coach has erred on this time around is on Kalaba. Guys like Mbesuma have done great things for Zambia but please accept that his time is now up. Had we accepted in time that guys like Mbesuma’s time is up we would not have lost and drawn with Nigeria and Cameroon respectively and now you want him back…cmon gents!!!!

  7. We have enough material.. Tactic is what it shall be.. Mental strength, focus and self belief.. In a group where were ruled out before a ball was kicked, we have revived… Believe, focus!!

  8. The other thing is that our coach is talking too much. He should just have kept a low profile and then surprise the Nigerians on the pitch. He has been talking too much attracting the attention of everyone and the media in Nigeria.

  9. Nigerians maybe lucky because we have lost key plays who know how to pass the ball to the strikers and score goals Ng’onga is useless in front of goals l hope he will prove me wrong

  10. with what we have on the ground …. let us remain positive …. even Mister Ng’nga may suprise us with GREAT GOALS … all things are possible ….

  11. MY DOTA NCHIMUNYA PREDICTS ZAMBIA 4 – nigeria 1… She always right with her predictions.

However, the coach should have given other players an equal chance to prove themselves. As a Pastor he should have buried the differences he has with Kalaba and Fwayo.

For instance, one on one Mbesuma(despite his tired legs) is better player than Ngonga and Chingandu combined together. As matter of fact he is the one who scored for us in Cameroon. Kalaba is still a better midfielder than most midfielders we have carried to Nigeria. Fwayo is another great soldier he has left back home.
A best general does not leave his top soldiers at the rear when going for war… Posterity will judge Wada harshly.

  12. starting lineup zambia vs nigeria 1 kennedy mweene 2 simon swilwimba 3 fackson kapumbu ziyo tembo stopilla sunzu kondwani ntonga enock mwepu chisamba lungu austine mulenga fashion sakala patson daka

  13. Ngonga will give Zambians a big surprise n get that solitary goal that will have both teams tied on 10 points. I saw him, he’s been working on sharpness in front of goal. N’gonga show them mwana!

  14. In Uyo we needed more players who could hold the ball like Fwayo and Kalaba. We have too many runners in the team and few composed players. We are going to be under constant attack and players that are good at keeping possession would have been helping to ease the pressure. I hope Chisamba plays because he is also good in possession.

  15. Possession with final product that must be the aim. Also keeping structure when leading and not conceding unnecessary fouls. I just hope they play to win, play a good game and if a loss that they lose with the knowledge they all gave it their all.
Also on the question of Mbesuma, if he was serious about continuing playing for Zambia he should have found a Zambian club to play for or train with.
He (Mbesuma) scored the lone goal versus Nigeria in Ndola and the AWAY match in Cameroon.
This coach can still include One of the players he excluded…he has a few days before the match.
