Mayuka recovers, back in training

With Zambia opening game in the 2017 Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers about seven weeks away on the 14th of June 2015, the Chipolopolo technical bench will be glad to note that Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka is back in full training.

A ZamFoot correspondent who observed the Saints training today (Wednesday) stated that the 25 year old is back and training with the first team.

He stated that he looks to be in good shape pressing for a position in the team.

Mayuka is expected to make the trip to Sunderland in this weekends clash between 7th placed Southampton and Sunderland.

Saints coach Ronald Koeman had earlier feared the Zambian striker would not feature for the rest of the season.

Mayuka last played a competitive match on 22nd January when he featured for the Zambia national team in a 2 – 1 loss against Tunisia.

He scored Zambia’s only goal of the match but was rushed to hospital after he injured himself in a desperate attempt to convert an inviting Rainford Kalaba cross.

  1. good news we need him, am lookn 4ward 2 c him wth jacob on top. Janza no more small boys now, the wil hav their tym after 2017

    • I think this is it for Mayuka. The next 3 yrs are what he’s got to prove that he is a good striker as football players get hot 25-28. Good luck Mayuka and welcome back.

  2. Good news indeed but then Pele is also back so it is still tricky for a first team spot for Mayuka especially now that they have a chance to be in Europe next season. I am not sure the coach will gamble with him over Jay Rodriguez and Pelle. But it will be good if the saints manage clinch a Europa spot, then we will have at least one Zambian playing in the Europa.

Mbesuma surely has found his scoring boots scoring again yesterday against Joseph Musondas Polokwane City in a 2-2 draw. Surprisingly Joseph Musonda only made the bench. He has been the most used player for Polokwane city this campaign maybe fatigue is catching up. Ba Sakala I know you read these threads so Saturday beer is on me mudala as congratulations.

It is also good news that Mukuka Mulenga is finally making a first team spot at Celtics. I think he has finally convinced his coach of his value to the team. They won 2-1 beating Chippa United.

Mwape Musonda did not even make the bench for Pirates. I’m beginning to wonder if this boys career at Pirates will ever take off from the ground. He has shown some deft touches when he has played coming in from the bench but then again maybe walking into such a big club at the first try was not the best idea. Maybe he is a player Janza should consider assessing.
