The Football Association of Zambia FAZ has come out strongly to defend its position amidst allegations that the FAZ executive is trying to come up with ways of making FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya a life president.
FAZ communications manager Nkweto Tembwe in a statement to Zambianfootball.co.zm stated that the allegations are not only false but a product of people who lack understanding of the provisions of the rules and regulations which govern football regards the presidency of the Association.
“Regards the presidency of the Association, we wish to remind stakeholders that the constitution of FAZ in its current form allows a candidate to contest this position with limitless terms,” Tembwe stated.
“It is needless to state that the constitution of the association cannot be changed by an individual or group of individuals outside the realms of the policy makers-the counsellors. This is a preserve of the FAZ council which comprises of all the affiliate members of FAZ. This is the only institution which can make changes or any amendments and again through a 2/3 majority voting for such alterations.”
“Football house would like to take this opportunity to remind stakeholders that members of the Association have a constitutional right to propose motions to be considered for discussion and debate at the annual general meeting (AGM). This right is being exercised freely and we wish to stress the point that these propositions do not necessarily reflect the views of the Association’s executive committee and secretariat. We are however duty bound to administratively facilitate such motions and proposals when they are tabled in line with the constitutional provisions of FAZ.”
“It should be noted however that our President has never and will never advocate for a life Presidency. It should be borne in mind that Kalusha Bwalya has other ambitions outside being FAZ president,” Tembwe said.

Its only a dull person who cant see football development in the Kalusha’s reigns. If someone has served in a senior role or has done business on a high profile will agree with me that Kalu is the right person for the job. People are always saying things have gone bad, are you sure?? Our local league teams has gone on TV, Club football have been rejuvenated if at all you watched football then local leagues and go to the stadiums now the difference is just so huge. Sponsorship deals back then KCM was pumping K3b now MTN came in with K7B, FAZ is in talks with Supper Sport to add up another Cup from the already existing namely Barclays, FAZ/MTN league and the Charity Shield, ever since football was started in this country 2012 the cup came to Zambia, We are playing quality friendlies, Since in the History we have played Brazil, North and South Korea, Japan and many others and someone says Kalu has failed are you sure? under 17 qualified for the Africa cup under 17 since in memorial, under 17 women qualified for the world cup since in memorial, under 20 and national women team also playing great football since in memorial, the under Zambia national team back then were nowhere to be seen or heard and yet still says Kalu has failed. Come on you spend to much time concentrating on the english leagues and not your own because if you do, you will have a better understanding. Kamanga and Simata are a bunch of failures with no track record, Simata failed as FAZ president and he has had a team which he has failed to develop Makumbi stars now called Mtendere Blablabla, Kamanga was sacked as Chairman by Kabwe Warriors due to a series of poor result and the team lamentably failed to tick and worse of recently sacked as a Bord member at Power Dynamos yet the person they want to be condemning went an opposed at CAF elective meeting.people who condemns Kalu I see them to luck understanding knowledge of football management….. Zambia had a president who served for nearly three decades. The result was that after ten years of his rule, the Zambian economy and social structures began to disintegrate.
We don’t learn history just to pass the next exam, we learn history so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
The correlation between Zambian history and FAZ is this ; Allowing an individual to sit at the top four too long is slow death. We will keeping using the same ideas and Zambian football will not progress. The person at the top will be under no pressure to adapt and improve because he will be safe in the knowledge that his seat is secured regardless of performance.
There is no doubt of Kalusha Bwalya’s contribution to Zambian football but there comes a time when even Ceasar must make way for the Visigoths.

kalu has done great things for our zambian football…..its just that we people dont appreciate.like@niccoble is saying.yes every person has a weakness am told no one is perfect.but if you where to judge kalus administration he has done a very good job than any administrator so far as administration of zambian football is concerned. so far the people who want to contest faz presidence are failures so are we going to be stubborn and contnue calling for kalus resignation wen we dont have people who can run the affaires of football?
