Zambia U23 national team coach Fighton Simukonda has retained the team that failed to qualify to the 2015 All Africa Games after succumbing to a 2 – 1 loss at home against Nigeria.
Simukonda who has now set his eyes on the Rio Olympics has named a 26 man squad which will face either Botswana or Kenya.
Botswana over the weekend beat Kenya 3 – 0 with return leg scheduled for 10th May.
The winner will then host Zambia on May 23 with return leg to be played in Zambia a week later.
The final round of qualifiers has Ivory Coast awaiting the winner with the first leg scheduled for July 18 at home and the return leg to follow on August in Abidjan.
The winners will qualify to the second edition of the CAF U 23 Cup to be held in Senegal this December where the four finalists at that tournament will advance to the 2017 Rio Olympics.
