Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina says his immediate focus is winning the opening game against Zimbabwe as that will give his team impetus to go all the way.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference in Rubavu – Rwanda on Monday afternoon before the team proceeded to have a feel of the turf at the match venue, Lwandamina stated that he as a good blend of senior and young players and the team is ready for the tournament.
“The first game is most important. Playing neighbors, our rivals, is always crucial but we are ready,” Lwandamina told the media.
“Definitely, we want to win it [CHAN tournament] but we will take it game by game; our focus now is on Zimbabwe.”
“We have a good mix in the team, the spirit is good & we are now ready for the tournament. We have lots of young players but with experience.”
Zambia play Zimbabwe in the opening match of group D on Tuesday afternoon in a match that will kick off at 15:00hrs.
