Eagles soar into sixth as survival fight tightens in MTN Super League

Green Eagles climbed to sixth place in the MTN Super League after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mufulira Wanderers, while crucial wins for Nchanga Rangers and Kabwe Warriors added further intrigue to an increasingly tense relegation battle.

At Independence Stadium in Choma, Teddy Simfukwe was the standout performer, scoring twice to guide Eagles to all three points.

His goals in the 28th and 47th minutes secured a clinical win that lifts the side to 47 points and strengthens their push for a top-half finish.

Down the table, pressure continues to mount on struggling sides. Nkana FC slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to in-form Nchanga Rangers, with Jacob Kaunda netting the decisive goal early in the second half.

The result leaves Nkana 13th on 35 points, still uncomfortably close to the drop zone.

Meanwhile, Nkwazi FC boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against ZESCO United.

Amine Hiver gave ZESCO the lead from the penalty spot, but Billy Balanganai Ntumba responded shortly after the break to earn Nkwazi a valuable point—enough to lift them out of the relegation zone into 14th place.

Elsewhere, Kabwe Warriors edged NAPSA Stars 1-0 thanks to Jackson Kampamba’s second-half strike, a result that further deepens NAPSA’s relegation concerns.

Results – Week 31

Nkwazi 1-1 ZESCO United (Ntumba 53’ | Hiver 8’)

Green Eagles 2-0 Mufulira Wanderers (Simfukwe 28’, 47’)

Kabwe Warriors 1-0 NAPSA Stars (Kampamba 69’)

Nkana 0-1 Nchanga Rangers (Kaunda 52’)
