Daka, Sakala out of World Cup Qualifiers as duo ‘re not fully vaccinated

British based duo Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala will miss this Sunday’s FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier against Equatorial Guinea at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium.

The duo have been knocked out of the Matchday 4 tie because they ‘are not fully vaccinated.’

According to the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala has said despite FIFA securing.

“FIFA has secured a conditional waiver with the English FA for players travelling to red listed countries that they will be exempted from the 10-day mandatory quarantine on condition that they are fully vaccinated. Regrettably, our two players (Daka and Sakala) are not fully vaccinated and cannot travel to Zambia for Sunday’s match.” Kashala said.

Meanwhile the Chipolopolo Boys are expected to take an hour long flight from Cameroon to Malabo this afternoon.

  1. It’s really a circus. You’re telling me Faz was not aware of this beforehand? These are things it’s your duty to be aware of and prepare for! SMH.

  2. Greetings fellow Chipolopolo supporters. The lunatics are running the asylum.

Will Daka and Sakala at least play in the match tomorrow in Equatorial Guinea, and will Chilufya and Banda at least play in Sunday’s match in Lusaka? If so, then hopefully that gives Zambia enough talent to win both matches.

Honestly this is so frustrating I don’t know what to think! Couldn’t Daka and Sakala get a one-dose vaccine like the Johnson and Johnson vaccine on Friday when they get to Zambia?

The government at the highest level needs to intervene.

  3. When i said ppl kamanga has only come for money marketing players for personal benefit..i was shouting and screaming we need fully professional players playing abroad some ppl ar saying no bcoz this that..u think these chipante chipante boys can do something when they are struggling against eswatini clubs… our team should be loaded with foreign based whether div 1,2 or 3 playing or not playing.. don’t forget ghana when they played 2006 world cup junior agogo ws playing in English championship div 2 angola had figuereido who was playing in Portugal div 2 bt these were there best players….

  4. Daka is just irresponsible by now he could have gotten his second jab.why costing the entire national. Our players are not experienced. We lost to Tunisia because of the two players. Fifa has come out strong. With the usless red zone rule (14 days qualitine).Uk has more positive cases than Zambia. I dont understand the science behind this.

  5. It’s NOT about whether this guy and the other guy will play or not. It’s about the LOGISTICS and seriousness at Fax admin to see to it that such matters are taken care off before the boys are drafted in the team.
Fax please let’s be serious and above board.

  6. This FAZ Executive is incompetent. We can’t be having the same problems every time we play. Last time it was C.Chama with VISA issues. Can’t E.Banda and E.Chilufya come for the game on Sunday at least?

We need a detailed Statement from FAZ on what exactly is wrong with boys in Sweden. Who dropped the ball with their Visas?

We will win the game away but at home AGAIN it will be another headache. Oh man!!
Prince Mumba and the other local players luck exposure and the mental strength to play Top Teams like we saw against Tunisia. No Mwepu, Daka, Sakala,Chilufya and E.Banda at home. I feel some people at FAZ are doing this on purpose so that the players the want to sell get Caps.

Why can’t FAZ call in A.Mulenga and G.Lungu from Super Sport for the game at home. The are way better than some of the “chipantepate” boys. I wish the Minister of Sport and the MEDIA put pressure on the FAZ Ex and get answers. This is UNACCEPTABLE at this level

  7. Last qualifiers UK based players from Brazil and Argentina based in the UK travelled to Brazil which is a Red Zone country and they were allowed to come back and play without the 10 mandatory quarantine period. Only African players were affected.

FAZ needs to push an for exception for these boys. But i don’t know if they know what needs to be done

  8. Oh wow. So you lose the matches before even playing them. I was so close to thanking FAZ on getting the team to Cameroon prior to their match

  9. Beats me. They can play at their clubs, but they shouldn’t for their own countries! Is it Europe’s conspiracy to finish and ground African football? At the clubs the guys are benched most of the time. I don’t like what I am beginning to suspect!

  10. Whether vaccinated or not vaccinated, the two guys’ caliber cannot help winning a world cup qualifer especially if we even fail to qualify for COSAFA and AFRICA CUP
