Green Buffaloes women’s football club head coach Charles Haalubono says his side will need to be more clinical having wasted a number of chances in their opening game of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifier.
The Zambian Champions beat their Eswatini counterparts 4-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday afternoon but missed a number of good chances in both halves.
Haalubono was also quick to heap praise on Young Buffaloes and especially their goalkeeper Sibandze.
” It was a good match, we played against a good team. We struggled to get goals and their goalkeeper is so good she made brilliant saves in that game,” he said.
“Yes, we have to improve on finishing and be clinical at goal. We wasted a lot of chances.”
“Young Buffaloes had three very good players hence we talked to use their experience from the AWCON to cut off the two wingers and their top striker.
“Yes, my biggest worry is that my players may underrate the opponents and personally I knew that it was not going to be easy. This is a military derby and we had to fight,” he added.
Meanwhile Young Buffaloes head coach Hlope Fisiwe admitted that the Zambian side was better than her team during the match.
“I would like to say congratulations to Green Buffaloes, they are a good side, tactically quick and very experienced, they were better than us,” she said.
“Today we were a bit defensive, we were slowly joining in. It’s an experience for us, we have to work on our second ball and transition.”
The female Computer, Ireen Lungu netted a brace while Hellen Chanda and Anita Mulenga scored a goal each to complete a comprehensive win.
Next up for Green Buffaloes is Olympique de Moroni of Comoros on Tuesday at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium with a win guaranteeing their place in the final.
