Copper Queens star Xiomara Mapepa begins trials in Sweden

Copper Queens winger Xiomara Mapepa has started her trials at top Swedish side Djurgarden. 

The Elite ladies star arrived in Stockholm last week from Lusaka. 

Mapepa was part of the Copper Queens squad at the Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco. 

Having missed the Copper Queens’ first match against Cameroon as she was suspended after accumulating yellow cards in qualifiers.

She was also on target in Zambia’s 4-1 win over Togo in the group stage. 

The left footed winger impressed on the left flank in the absence of her idol Barbra Banda. 

She helped Zambia to a bronze and World Cup qualification.

Mapepa was the top goalscorer in the 2021/2022 Women’s Super League having scored 17 goals from the 15 league games she played.

Mapepa scored the goal that took Zambia to the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations away in Namibia when the Copper Queens came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with the Brave Gladiators.
