The Copper Queens will play the Crested Cranes of Uganda in their final friendly match on Tuesday to complete their preparations for the 2022 Morocco Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Copper Queens boss Bruce Mwape confirmed the development in an interview.
The match will be the Copper Queens’ third in Morocco. They drew 1-1 with the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco before thrashing a club side, Phoenix Marrakech FC 6-0.
Before departure for Morocco, the Queens faced off with AWCON debutantes, Botswana in two matches.
“The team we played is a club, we have yet to play another international game against Uganda that’s where we will be able to see because in that we intend to use the possible team that will start the tournament,” Mwape said.
The Uganda Crested Cranes who are making their second appearance in the WAFCON are placed in Group A alongside Burkina Faso, Senegal and hosts Morocco.
Meanwhile the Copper Queens will start their campaign against Cameroon at the Mohammed V stadium on July 3 before facing North Africans Tunisia three days later.
They will wrap up their Group B engagement with a tie against debutants Togo on 9 July.
The top four finishers in Morocco will qualify directly for the World Cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023, while two additional teams will progress to the intercontinental play-offs.
