Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda has been nominated for the 2026 Women’s Ballon d’Or award.
This is Bandas third nomination as she seeks to break into the top 10 in the global rankings.
She has made the 30-player shortlist after a strong run of form in which she has scored 14 goals in 21 matches and provided one assist.
Banda is the second African female player nominated for the award, alongside Malawian striker Temwa Chawinga, who has scored 15 goals in 22 matches and provided three assists.
The Orlando Pride striker is among 30 of the world’s top female players nominated for the prestigious award.
The 26-year-old first received a Ballon d’Or nomination in 2024, finishing 12th and becoming the highest-ranked African female player in the history of the award.
