Green Buffaloes Women’s open their 2022 Cosafa Champions League tie against free scoring Young Buffaloes of Eswatini on Sunday with a 15:30 kickoff at Durban’s Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
The match will be televised live on SuperSport, and will be streamed live on SABC Sport OTT, FIFA+ and COSAFA.TV.
Buffaloes want to better last year’s performance. They lost in the semi final to Sundowns.
Coach Charles Halubono has a much more experienced side boasting the sextuple of Copper Queens stars.
Below the ZamFoot Crew takes a look at the Buffaloes’ six Copper Queens Stars.

Lushomo Mweemba – Centre back – She was rock solid at the back for Zambia at the WAFCON in Morocco.
She won Women of the Match at WAFCON in Zambia’s quarter final triumph over Senegal. She missed Zambia’s 3rd/4th playoff win over the Super Falcons.

Agness Musesa – Centre back – The towering Musesa is the rolls-royce of this defensive pair with Lushomo. Also plays in midfield.
She is good in the air and comfortable on the ball. Her experience will be vital at this tournament.
Musesa featured in Zambia’s six matches at WAFCON.

Martha ‘Thee Terminator’ Tembo – Full back – Arguably the more talent of this defensive unit.
Although she is right footed, Tembo usually occupies the left full back position for both club and country.
Strong in the tackle. She was a marvel to watch her surging forward runs at WAFCON.
She was named in the ZamFoot Crew’s Top 5 performers at the WAFCON.

Ireen Lungu – Midfielder – Originally plays as an attacker but was switched to a defensive midfield role at WAFCON.
Added her fine and impressive performance with that thunderbolt against Togo.
It will be interesting to see if she will revert to her old position.

Anita Mulenga – Centre back – The veteran defender was used as a back up at WAFCON and did well when she slotted in for Lushomo against Nigeria.
Twelve months ago Mulenga was Zambia’s stalwart at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as she partnered Lushomo in central defence.

Natasha Nanyangwe – Forward – Came on as substitute twice at WAFCON. Before the tournament her aim was to help Zambia to qualify to the World Cup.
“We want to break the record and qualify for the World Cup, the fans back home are expecting that from us. We want to do that,” She said in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew on the eve of the tournament.

She is expected to lead the attack for Buffaloes at the Cosafa.
The youngster is Zambia’s symbol of present and future.
Whilst at Green Eagles, she once scored 24 league goals before she made the switch to Buffaloes.
