Nkana FC secure K200,000 MUZ partnership

Nkana Football Club have strengthened their relationship with the Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will provide the Kitwe giants with financial and nutritional support over the next 18 months.

Under the agreement, MUZ will provide Nkana with financial support of nearly K200,000, amounting to about K11,000 per month, from September 2026 to December 2027.

The partnership also includes a nutritional package, with MUZ set to supply 20 trays of eggs every month through its MUZ Eggs production line. The eggs will help supplement the diet of the Nkana squad, particularly during training camps and match preparations.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony at Katilungu House in Kitwe, Nkana chief executive officer Mwansa Kapyanga said the partnership would provide much-needed support as the club seeks to strengthen its operations and improve player welfare.

“This partnership means a lot to Nkana FC, which currently needs a lot of support. It will help us build a stronger club both on and off the pitch,” Kapyanga said.

He added that the nutritional component would contribute to the welfare of the players, while the partnership would also allow both institutions to benefit from their respective platforms and audiences.

Kapyanga further praised miners across Zambia for their contribution to the country’s mining sector and their longstanding support for Nkana.

MUZ president Joseph Chewe said the union’s decision to support Nkana was rooted in the club’s deep connection with mining communities.

“Nkana Football Club is more than just a football club to many miners and their families. It is part of the social fabric of our communities,” Chewe said.

He added that MUZ was committed to supporting initiatives that unite communities, promote talent and contribute to their development.

The agreement will also give MUZ increased visibility through Nkana’s digital and stadium platforms, including match-day branding, billboards and end-of-season programmes.

The partnership further strengthens the long-standing relationship between Nkana FC and the mining community, with both parties set to benefit from the collaboration over the coming 18 months.
