In Austria, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu put in impressive 90 minutes shifts. Daka scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute as Rebull Salzburg edged LASK Linz 1 – 0. The headed finish was his 20th league goal of the season.
On the other hand, Mwepu was a constant threat on the right with surging runs and dribbles. Mwepu nearly had an assist when his cross found Daka, who fired over from a tight angle with the game on 26 minutes. In the 67th minute, Mwepu flashed a shot over. In the end, Salzburg held on for a win and maintained their lead at the summit of the league.
In Poland, wing wizard Lubambo Musonda put-in a 45 minutes shift as Śląsk Wrocław were held to a goalless draw at home by Wisła Płock. The former Power Dynamos man started the game on the right-wing. Musonda was in the thick of things as early as the 9th minute. Following a corner, he had a right-footed shot from outside the box miss to the left.
In the 11th minute, his goal-bound effort was blocked. A few minutes later, he floated a long pass to Piasecki who failed to control the ball with the goalie sweeping in to collect. In the 34th minute, he missed a volley after Stiglec’s free-kick. Following a good shift, he was withdrawn at halftime. Śląsk went to record their second successive draw which puts more pressure on Coach Lavička’s position.
In Belgium, Fashion Sakala played 82 minutes of the game as KV Oostende sealed a 1 -0 away win against Excel Mouscron. Sakala had a quiet first half due to lack of service. With the game headed for halftime, Sakala thought he had given Oostende the lead in the 43rd minute. He reacted quickly to tap-in from close range after the opposition goalie failed to deal with a cross from a corner kick. However, following lengthy consultations with VAR, the referee overturned the goal for both teams to go into halftime goalless.
After the break, Oostende came back rejuvenated with Sakala leading the charge. He came close to scoring in the 55th minute. His first-time effort from inside the penalty area narrowly missed the right side of the post.
Sakala was substituted in the 82nd minute after picking up a knock. (We hope it’s nothing serious with crucial encounters against Algeria and Zimbabwe up next.)
KV Oostende went on to record a narrow win thanks to a late goal from substitute, Makhatar Gueye deep in injury time.
In Sweden, Emmanuel Banda put in a 73-minute shift for Djurgadens IF who recorded a 3-0 friendly win over Östersuds FK.
In-form forward Edward Chilufya was rested.
In Isreal’s Liga Leumit, Ngosa Sunzu came off the bench for Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam in their 4-1 home defeat to Hapoel Iskal. By the time the holding midfielder was introduced in the 48th minute, his club was 3 nil down.
Sunzu has been impressive in his debut season in Israel.
Still in Israel, former Buildcon winger Lameck Banda played 70 minutes for Maccabi Netanya. Netanya lost 2-0 to Maccabi Haifa.
