Napsa Stars’ Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Adoko is confident his side will advance to the CAF Confederations Cup group stage.
Napsa Stars whost Kenyan side Gor Mahia in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round on Sunday at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka at 3 pm.
The pensioners only need to avoid defeat to book a place in the group stage thanks to Adoko lone goal in the 1st leg a week ago.
Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew ahead of the second leg Adoko expressed confidence in the Pensioners’ ability to seal qualification to the group stage.
“We have no pressure despite playing at home we will just play as a team like the way we worked in Kenya. Then we give the supporters what they want,” he said.
The pensioners will be buoyed by around 4,500 fans and the midfielder is excited about the role of the 12th player.
“Having the fans is very important to us because when we went to Kenya there was no fans supporting us but this time they will be supporters behind our back so we will fight and give them what they want,” he said.
“Our fans should keep on supporting us and we will keep on fighting for them.” he added
While Napsa is struggling in the domestic league, Mohammad Fathy’s side are flying high in Africa.
Formerly known as Profund Warriors, the Lusaka based side is playing in Africa for the first time.
The late Derby Makinka and Patrick ‘Bomber’ Banda are the biggest names the club has produced.
Former Zambia striker Harry ‘Bulldozer’ Milanzi also played for the pensioners.
The late Nsofwa ‘Miller’ Chansa was signed from Napsa before he joined Zanaco.
Napsa’s most recent success was reaching the Barclays Cup (ABSA) which saw the likes of Chitiya Mususu, Youremember Banda, Solomon Sakala, Austin Banda and Dickson Chapa come to the fold
