ZESCO United have reached an agreement to reappoint George Lwandamina as head coach, according to reports by Wami Katanga.
If confirmed, the 62-year-old will return for a fifth spell in charge of the seven-time Zambian champions, with the club reportedly turning to their most successful coach to lead a rebuilding project ahead of the new season.
Lwandamina is currently in charge of Nchanga Rangers, whom he joined in November 2024 after replacing Robert Tembo. His appointment came following a disappointing start to the campaign that saw Tembo and his technical bench placed on administrative leave.
The veteran coach’s most recent stint at ZESCO United lasted from December 2022 to August 2024. He departed after the club failed to progress beyond the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
A former Zambia international defender, Lwandamina remains the most successful coach in ZESCO United’s history. He guided the club to four league titles across two spells, winning back-to-back championships in 2014 and 2015 after arriving from Red Arrows, before adding successive crowns in 2017 and 2018 during his second tenure.
Lwandamina is also serving as the interim head coach of the Zambia national team and remains one of the country’s most decorated football managers.
Zega Mambo finished 10th last season and failed to qualify for the 2026 ABSA Cup.
