Full-Time Scores,
Malawi U-20 WNT 1-2 Zambia U-20 WNT (Rose Kabzere 3′ | Enelesi Phiri 13′, Lungowe Namasiku 38′)
(Aggregate Malawi 1-8 Zambia)

The Zambia Under-20 Women’s National Team on Saturday afternoon qualified to the third round of the 2022 Costa Rica FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after edging Malawi U-20 Women’s National Team 2-1 at Bingu Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Young Copper Queens are through to the third round with an impressive 8-1 aggregate scoreline to ensure safe passage and they now will face The Black Princesses of Ghana in the third round.

Coach Charles Haalubono made only one change to the starting lineup that played in the reverse fixture last month with ZISD Women Football Club striker Lungowe Namasiku taking up the place for BUSA Queens Tisilile Lungu.

The Young Scorchers scored first just inside 3 minutes through Midfielder Rose Kabzere to make it 1-0 but the lead did not last long as Police Dove Queens prolific Goalpoacher Enelesi Phiri leveled the scores for the Young Copper Queens just after the 10th-minute mark.

Namasiku sent The Young Copper Queens in the lead in the 38th minute and that was enough for the first half to end 2-1 in favor of Zambia.

After the resumption, no goals were witnessed as two first-half goals from Phiri and Namasiku proved important for the Young Queens to collect maximum points with a hard-fought 2-1 victory after 90 minutes.

Zambia and Ghana will lock horns in the third round with the winner between these two teams playing the winners between South Africa and Uganda who will also be battling it out in the third round.
