Burkhard Ziesa (sp) with Bubble malitoli at AFCON 1998..he was fired and replaced by G- Mungwa after loosing two games. He tried using bubble in central defence and took the squad to Miami beach
Mordon Malitoli. “Bubble” Kenneth Malitoli is younger brother to “Ba Modo” in the picture.
Conrad, not necessarily for losing two games, but perhaps the captaincy saga-Kalu replaced by Litana in the first match only to reclaim it in the second match. In the first game against a Henri Michel coached Morocco (we didn’t lose but drew 1-1 coming from behind Ahmed Bajha’s goal)only to lose to Egypt heavily without him on the bench but beating Mozambique 3-1 (Masauso Tembo scored one of the goals). Jonson Bwalya was thrown out of the team for alledgedly oversleeping ku hotel by Ziese.
Watching Guinea Bissau outmuscle our lean players last weekend, it reminded me of Ziese’s preference for well built players (Peter Chitila, Tana, Big Mo, Ba Modon, Andrew Tembo etc)
Ba Modo..aka Che cha and Burkhard Ziese…..i remember the dual carriage way road runs he made the guys do for fichiness..(fitness)

The tournament should have been Burkina Faso 98.I remember we were slaughtered by Egypt led by Hossam Hassan.City was BOBODYALASO!!!!!!!I cant forget because there was even some recorded joke imitating Dennis Liwewe’s lamentations!!!

Watched him at trade fair grounds in ndola during a training session. Interesting character indeed and didn’t take nonsense from the players. It was during the hay days of one Cosmas (Cossie) Banda, One Shy Kumwenda, Frazie Kamwandi, Douglas Chiwaya just to mention a few
Yes I also watched him taking the guys through a training session at the Barclays sports complex in Lusaka, this guy was clown for sure. No nonsense clown for that matter, no smiles or anything, pure military style training.

Coach is late Bukhard Ziese and player is Mordon Malitoli. That coach was an epic failure though.
Indeed Uncle Bobs, sometimes, I feel that lean players may not compete effectively in crucial matches were we have “big” and taller players in opposition teams. Ba Mordon was a perfect marker to take on Yekeni in the 1994 Cup Final. Big Mike Chabala was an intimidating factor and so were the lean bat taller Fighton. Those who lacked these attributes such as John “Libya” Kalusa, compensated the loss with skill! We really need to go rural and get stronger species!
BONNET is a very clever coach and if you haven’t heard Kalu was in Italy last week some are saying he went to speak to Bonneti to come back I hope that’s true kikikikiki Bukhard Ziese I won’t say anything coz its not right to criticise the dead who can’t answer for themselves

That coach was the most useless zambia ever had and I hope FAZ have learnt lessons from such hopeless failiers of gold-diggers, even if it was a government to government arrangement. Why are we so stuck on single sourcing coaches? Why can’t the job be advertised so all qualified applicants can apply for the job. Kalusha’s template of what the National team coach should be has failed and he needs to think the football sun rises and sets with him in Zambia. I have been a supporter of his over the years but this guy’s desire to control very aspect of the Zambian game is very dangerous. The government knows how much they are willing to pay the new coach and so all applicants should be made aware of that so that whoever chooses to apply will know what they are getting into. There’re hundreds of out of work coaches in Europe who will work for $25,000 a month (I’m just guessing the amount here). We have been successful with a PE teacher before and I believe if we found the right person, we could be successful again. We just need this process to be above board and let the best candidate get the job and not just friends of Kalu. As the biggest contributor to the salary of the coach, the ministry of sport needs to demand a transparent hiring process at the very minimum.

You need to appreciate that at the time expectations were so high that just not making it past group stage at Afcon could get you fired… The captaincy was resolved just after the Morocco game. Kalu was reinstated by match-day 2
That is Mordon Malitoli by the way… CDM/CB were his roles… was one hell of an engine… sometimes could be partnered with Alan Kamwanga whenever he played as CB
