Sinkala cleared to play for Mazembe in Champions League

Chipolopolo vice captain Nathan Sinkala will finally get a chance to play for TP Mazembe in the 2015 CAF Champions League after the Congo giants confirmed that he has been registered and cleared by CAF to play for the club.

Sinkala who has been away on loan, first at French side Soachaux and most recently Swiss side Grasshoppers is the 28th player on the Mazembe CAF players list.

The 24 year old has hardly seen competitive action at club level this year since he injured his knee at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament but is expected to be in the line-up for the game against Smouha SC in Alexandria Egypt on Friday.

He has been given jersey number 4.

Mazembe are currently playing in the group stage of the CAF Champions league and Sinkala will join Given Singuluma, Rainford Kalaba and Kabaso Chongo, the other Zambians in the Mazembe team.

  1. Zambia won the cup of nations when the spine of the team was playing at one club, TP Mazembe. Zambian fans have not really acknowledged that Mazembe always has its players in tip top form. Even Sunzu lost form and became injury prone when he left Mazembe. The Caf champions league is good in preparing players for the Orange cup of Nations. This is good for Sinkala.

    • I agree with you.Egypt won three afcons in a row with the bulk of players from al-ahly.The Africa champions league is indeed good exposure for players.Besides the problems of lack of coordination are minimized when players know each other from the club. Spain’s dominance in recent years was as a result of the bulk of their players coming from barca and real madrid.

  2. Zambian football is not going anywhere because we have failed to export our players in strong European leagues where they are competing in the starting 11 regularly . Our boys are flopping and returning from these euro countries. I have lost apetite for our game as we have failed to beat Namibia and guinea bissau in recent months.

    • @john I don’t truly agree with you as I know how much influence the media which internationally controlled by white media moguls. Soccer as a whole is fixed at a higher level whether you like it or not people like you john are so inferior to themselves and their kind. Africans are great people who can make it without Europe, the Sons of the African slaves have given us a vivid all time lesson but we are still in denial! Brazil is a true example of African and black greatness I still feel and 100% convinced that Zambia does not Europe to become a great soccer nation.

  3. I do not the boys are failing to make the cut its because of poor representatives who want to make quick money out these players .. Nathan played very well in France but that idiot demanded a lot.. Look now the deal of kalaba is still hanging.. Our players are being overpriced ..

    • Mindset period-being content with a little when there’s more out there. Our players need to grow their capacity like our West African brothers do by growing themselves to SUCCESS through growing their own CAPACITY as simple as:
      1. Draw up at most 3 personal goals aligned to your vision and values (I want to be as marketable as Drogba/Eto
      2. Draw up action steps-from SA PSL i will get to French League in 2 seasons then get to Spanish or EPL
      3. Draw up plans to achive these action steps-get a value adding Agent and Manager to handle my Investments
      4. Execution-all milestones should run with timelines and reviews done at appropriate times

Now what has been happening is that (Mbesuma, Sinkala, Kalaba, Sunzu, Sakuwaha, Perry Mutapa, Mwape Miti,Zeddy Saileti, Mayuka etc) upon getting to UK psychologically become content and arrive when West African players some not even with half their talents make it on a trajectory.

Because of this factor inherent in most of us Zambians, personally I,ve decided to make a contribution with my few remaining active years by just starting a MINDSET change focusing on Youths and Teens in the following areas:

      1. Entrepreneurship-5 sessions held so far in Lusaka for over 40 kids. After coaching session, I give a 10 Point Child-Parent Engagement Plan done at their own timing. My own children now put a price to anything the do e.g. one of them an artists draws and sells drawings to me at K2 only (for economic reasons)
      2. Self Branding-to build confidence and passion among Zambian Children.
      3. Sales Force Effective-getting value out of any value proposition
      4. Attitude (accounts for 85% of Success yet most Training & Coaching only touches on it at 5% on average)-developing Growth Mindsets

Hoping our Education system as our government is trying to do can change from being Exam-based to Entrepreneurial based.

During off-season, I offered my services to one Lusaka PSL Zambian Clubs for a COACHING (not on the pitch), MENTORING and COUNSELING after one of their officials asked me why they were not getting results despite having about the best talent. Unfortunately the offer wasnt taken and wish them lack.

With the advent of Club Licencing, we need to see some Enthusiasm from Club Management to embrace what CAF/FIFA through FAZ have brought on the table, boy was it surprising to here some Club Chairman of some ZPL team still grappling with challenges he saw with Club Licencing and i could only whisper to this man in my dream “Bwana Shape Up or Ship Out”

I’m on 0977-781007 for more details!

      • All the above will not take anybody anywhere apart from pumping them with pride and arrogance, the best is to teach someone from childhood that they are not inferior to anyone, they are special, talented and not cursed as preached widely all over the world. That one need to apply themselves 100% and should not be afraid of anyone or anything ( Mental Power).

  4. I applaud Katumbi for making Africa great and denying the neo-slavery mentality of most African People.

  5. I think Africa sells itself short when it comes to club football. Europe is not the be all end all that people want to make it out to be. Its a shame still that our players don’t have the mental fortitude to succeed as has been evidenced by some amazing prospects like Mbesuma, Mayuka, Sunzu or even Felix Katongo.

But we should not focus on sending players to Europe as a benchmark for finding international success. Egypt has achieved success without doing so. The focus should remain on what we can control, and right now that is the Zambian league. Improving the local league should be the first step in getting a true production line of talent. This will also mean improving the youth football structure in Zambia, and getting clubs to up their game. Youth coaching nayo will be key.
