MTN Super League outfit Nchanga Rangers have appointed veteran coach Dean Mwiinde as coach replacing Evans Sakala.
Sakala was sacked last month’s after he critised the club for failing to pay players their salaries.
The former Chipolopolo midfielder, who started the 1994 African Cup of Nations final against Nigeria has since rejoined Napsa Stars as an assistant to Egyptian Mohammad Fathy.
Without Sakala on the bench, 1998 Zambian Super League Champions only collected a point from a possible 21 with Hector Chilombo at the helm.
Rangers have just collected 12 points from 18 games and five points from safety.
That slump in form saw the club rope in another 1994 African Cup of Nations bronze medalist in the form of Happy Sichikolo an assistant coach.

Sichikolo left Rangers in 1993 for Kabwe Warriors.
Though it’s not yet official, the two Chilombo and Sichikolo will deputise the veteran Mwiinde.
Mwiinde has been handed a deal until the end of the season and his main task will be to help the club avoid relegation.
While he hasn’t had Super League coaching jobs, in recent time, Mwiinde has coached the likes of Zanaco and National Assembly.

Rangers produced the likes of Ronald Mbambara, Masauso Tembo, Harry Milanzi, Laughter Chilembi, Andrew Sinkala and Moses Sichone in the 90s while the likes of Patson Daka, Emmanuel Banda and Fashion Sakala have had loan spells there.
