Can Zanaco let Mangani leave the club? Former U20 hero attracts interest

Former Zambia Under-20 Vice Captain Mangani Banda is attracting interest from a host of MTN Super League  sides, the ZamFoot Crew understands.

The Zanaco goalkeeper has been on the peripheral  at the club for the past three seasons.

While he has started five of the last six league games for the bankers, he is not the club’s first choice.

“Two clubs on the Copperbelt want him. They are aware that he wants game time,” a ZamFoot Crew source said.

Despite Zanaco struggling, Mangani has been watching from the stands as Toaster Nsabata and Racha Kola have been preferred.

The shot stopper who helped Zambia Under-20 claim gold on home soil last year only got his chance after Nsabata went away with the national team for Cosafa Cup.

With Mangani in goal, Zanaco only lost against to Green Buffaloes and recorded wins over Kabwe Youth, Nakambala Leopards and Kitwe United.

Mangani was back on the bench as Nsabata returned from international football, and the bankers lost to Red Arrows.

He was then back in goal against Nkwazi, and Zanaco won.

“Mangani has been waiting for his chance patiently but he hasn’t been given a good run in the team.

“Though he loves Zanaco and grateful, there’s the other part which tells him to move.

For now it’s not yet clear that Zanaco will be willing to sanction a loan move for the talented goalkeeper.

Next year Zambia Under-23 will  be involved in the qualifiers, and the goalkeeper wants to target a place on the team.

  1. Please let the boy go and have enough game time at another club. It is the only way he can keep on improving on his game, 2022 is just 4yrs away we may need him during the qualifiers.
