COLLINS Mbesuma says he is being pursued by other clubs in South Africa following Mpumalanga Black Aces’ decision not to retain him.
In an interview, Mbesuma who recently won the Premier Soccer League golden boot, says he is likely to join other clubs in South Africa or overseas.
“I cant say much now, only by the end of June. Some teams want me in South Africa and out of South Africa. My manages are dealing with that,” said Mbesuma.
Mpumalanga Black Aces was sold to former Ajax Cape Town owner John Comitis at the end of last season.
According to KickOff.com, the new management has decided against retaining the services of the striker and goalkeeper Bafana Nhlapo.
“Aces are now under new owner John Comitis and are set to relocate to Cape Town at the start of the new season, with the club keeping current coach Muhsin Ertugral who is set to be assisted by Ian Tayler, formerly with Ajax Cape Town. AmaZayoni will however be parting ways with Zambian forward Mbesuma, who ended the season as the PSL’s top scorer with 14 goals, as well as 36-year-old goalkeeper Nhlapo,” read KickOff.com.
Mbesuma was immediately not available for a comment as he could not be reached by press time.
The prolific striker, however, just posted on his Facebook page a message that read ‘Thank You Lord.”
This means Mbesuma will now be clubless and will be looking for a new club ahead of the new season.
Mbesuma last season scooped the PSL golden boot after scoring 14 goals with Mpumalanga who finished fourth on the table.
It was the second time the Chipolopolo international was receiving the award that he won during the 2004/2005 season when he broke the record and scored 35 goals on his debut season with Kaizer Chiefs.
He is currently the holder of PSL most goals scored in a single season.
