Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu open goal accounts in England

Zambia national team striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu opened their goalscoring accounts for their English Premier League sides.

Daka came from the bench to put in a shift and half for the Foxes who came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Queens Park Rangers while Mwepu scored the first goal of Brighton and Hove Albion’s 3-1 over Luton Town.

PATSON DAKA

The former Kafue Celtic man started from the bench and was introduced just after the hour mark with QPR leading 2-0 at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Charlie Austin arrowed an effort into the top corner past Jakupović for 1-0 just before halftime and Yoann Barbet nodded in at the far post ten minutes into the second stanza.

City’s breakthrough finally arrived in the 75th minute, Daka doing well to hold on to the ball and shield off a defender for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, fire home a loose ball and pull a goal back.

Daka then turned finisher as he got on the end of a fine Albrighton pass to slot home with ease, opening his Leicester City goal account.

Warburton’s men however restored their lead with eight minutes to play after Dickie slammed home from inside the box.

Daka who was having his best game so far for the Foxes won a penalty after being hauled down by Dieng, and Kelechi Iheanacho stepped up and dispatch his spot-kick from 12 yards to seal a 3-3 draw.

Daka and Leicester’s final pre-season fixture of the summer sees them host Villarreal at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday before their FA Community Shield clash with Manchester City at Wembley Stadium follows three days later.

The Computer started yet another game for Graham Potter in midfield as he partnered Bissouma.

Adam Lallana found Aaron Connolly with a bright pass and the Republic of Ireland international slotted past Simon Sluga in confident fashion to put the Seagulls in the lead.

Mwepu doubled the lead in the 35th minute as he expertly tucked away Solly March’s neat cut-back to the edge of the box, finding the bottom-right corner.

Luton got themselves back in the game shortly before half-time when Harry Cornick intercepted Dan Burn’s pass before firing home, but Percy Tau put the game out of reach for Albion with a moment of individual brilliance midway through the second half, 3-1 the match finished, Mwepu with 68 minutes of action.

The former NAPSA Stars man and his Albion teammates are back in action next Saturday, as they return to the Amex to face La Liga outfit Getafe.

In Scotland, Fashion Sakala put in a 70-minute shift for Steven Gerrard’s men started their Scottish Premiership title defense with a resounding 3-0 win over Livingston.

Goals from Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright, and Kemar Roofe were enough for the Light Blues.

Next up for the showman and Rangers is Tuesday night action, and a return to the Champions League with a third qualifying round tie away to Malmo.

  1. I watched the Rangers game up to the 88 minute. Rangers look dominant in the SPFL already. Fashion tried his best but he had no service today. Hagi who is the creative player for Rangers got injured and was taken off 1st half. He will be back next game.

Did not watch E.Mwepu’S Game. Still well done to Enock. He looks set for a 1st Eleven place in that BHA Team. Loved his finish in the box.

Watched Leicester game till the 70th minute. PD caused some havoc with his pace upfront when he came on. Good to se him do well today. When PD gets the service he is dangerous and we saw it today. Same with Fashion Sakala.

Well done to all the boys. I see a great turn over for all these 3 boys in the UK this season. We will be blown away.

  2. PD & EM & FS please forgive me as at now..I thought British football was a bridge too far for you guys, so far you have proved me wrong. Good luck, you will definitely need it! By the way how is Mwepu’s young brother getting on with his football! Is he at the moment in Europe?
