No weekend action for Mweene ahead of Chipolopolo camp

Zambia national team shot stopper Kennedy Mweene will heard home for the Chipolopolo camp without seeing any weekend action for his South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 31 year old was not named on the bench for the CAF Champions League finalists for Saturday’s game against Bidvest Wits.

Mweene was in goal for Sundowns’ only league match of the season and he kept a clean sheet against Chippa United.

Without need to rest players now, Dennis Onyango is back in goal with Wayne Sandiland winning the right to sit on the bench ahead of Mweene.

Despite his lack of regular game time,  he remains the Zambianfootball.co.zm fans favorite to start against Nigeria according to the currently running poll statistics.

The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner was left out of the Chipolopolo squad that played Kenya in Zambia’s last fixture.

He is expected to join camp on Sunday.
