Government says it has no money to pay an expatriate coach to drill the Zambia national team.
Minister of Youth and Sport Vincent Mwales has said the reduction of the mineral royalty tax which was revised by government has put a significant strain on the national treasury.
“Because of the huge amount of money we paid to former coach Dario Bonneti and the reduction in the mineral royalty tax, the government will not find money to pay. I cant go back to the treasury and ask for money to pay an expatriate coach,” Mwale told the Daily Mail.
We are talking with the corporate world and we are receiving a good response. We will get back to you as soon as we finalise the discussions,” he concluded.
Zambia is now running against time with the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starting in seven weeks.
FAZ earlier disowned current care-taker Honour Janza stating that he did not meet their desired level of expectation for Chipolopolo coach.

Faz Maintain Janza And Include Experienced Local Coaches.
You see now. In the meantime Zambia should just make use of what we have, Janza, Simukonda and Lwandamina, to drill the national team. Government has indicated they have no money for an expatriate coach. This is the time when the corporate world should come in and assist government.
Corporate World also have their own ills just like Government. Gone are the begging days. The days where we are going begging balls shall come extinct. So it’s not time for the Corporate World but time for Sports Bodies to come up with CVP (Customer Value Propositions) to engage Corporates on a Win-Win basis. As Zambians also we need to focus on value creation some I’m personally doing through Kids and Teens Entrepreneurship sessions-send through your Teen children on Saturday 1st May 2015 at Adega The Portuguese Restaurant next to Fresh View Cinema from 11.30-13.30 at K200 only (for value of K1,000). Same shall soon be extended to soccer clubs (our players. We’ve spoken enough time to act-kekekekeke. I may be contacted on 0977 781007 for further details
Mwiponta Mukabwela! Faz now has to bite its own words by asking the under qualified Janza to continue as head coach. Janza is really a gentleman and a patriot.
I feel this has been our major undoing as chipolopolo WE WANT TO REAP WHERE DONT SOW when Ghana is hiring AVRAM GRANT here we are saying here we cant pay just 25000 Dolars to hire a coach. You see if we are not willing to spend then we cant get desired resuilts I can guarantee you of this that WITH JANZA AS COACH WE WONT GO ANYWHERE .FAZ as well should learn to raise money for important ventures like this because goverment has its own priorities other than football development the honours is now on FAZ to engange the corporate World to help us raise the desired resources BECAUSE WE NEED AN EXPATRIATE COACH ASAP janza cant do this job at leaset not now
Its very hard for me to suggest a name/s of a local coach/s who can do this job as at now but maybe WEDSON NYIRENDA,FRED MWILA SR ,FORDSON KABOLE,MAYBE OUR JACOB SAKALA in South Africa should come and help his country Iam saying maybe BUT TO ME THE FUTURE LOOKS NOT SO PROMISING WALKING IT THE Janza way ITS A BIG NO
On Wedson you may be right, but the guy is sickly. His health is not good. Kabole and Mwila are old school and can’t add anything new. Jacob “Cellular” Sakala of Black Aces in South Africa is not national team type of coach and always coaches those teams fighting relegation in the PSL or first division teams in South Africa. In the interim we have no choice but to stick with Janza and probably rope in Simukonda and Lwandamina to assist Janza.
“We are talking with the corporate world and we are receiving a good response. We will get back to you as soon as we finalize the discussions,” Mr Mwale concluded.
Who is running FAZ?
Can the people in FAZ tell us their plans on how they intend to develop soccer so that we can stop speculating on a number of issues surrounding our beloved game, in the nation.
Zambian coaches do not have character and enough international experience. There are maybe 1 or 2 coaches who could handle the national team well enough. Janza is not one of them.
Kaya, but at the moment this serves us right though it pains me say it, because we think an international coach is the only thing we need when there is much more we could be doing but are not. Kalu’s watch.
So who is paying this Labohm chap?
And who is paying the Mexican scout?
Are you telling me zambia is such a poor country. Really? They can’t afford to pay such a cheap cost.
Unfortunately yes. What people forget is that most government agencies where Dr’s are receiving somewhere around $10,000 per month are sponsored by donor agencies.
This minister is the first to be honest with FAZ on the true nature of the budget. The Zambia national team still receives a large some to handle travel and player payments.
The PF government is bankrupt my friend, what with the loss of K2.3 billion after the change in the loyalty tax which the mines used to pay. I can’t talk about the other issues for now. Better I stick to soccer.
If the resources are limited and Janza is to stay on. Offer the man a contract and let it end there. Deals with corporate world have always gone south in the past. So many companies have simply stopped paying due to their own profit margins. And why is Zambia doing away with mineral royalty tax, how are all the infrastructure developments going to be completed if the government is broke? Sorry not trying to jump in politics, but that’s just dumb.
the accountability levels in faz is too appalling to attract the corporate world! ask mtn!
No Comment!….ok I lied, well let me see…I think government is now figuring it out that if they dip into their pockets for funds to “pay” the foreign coach, all that money will do is furnish the lavish life of the the anointed one in South Africa. If Kalu can come back to Zambia and perform what he is paid for, then Gov’t and other stakeholders whether private or not, would have resources to help. Kalu has no administrative skills to even find ways to raise funds to pay a coach. No marketing skills whatsoever. All that’s there is ego, arrogant and the attitude of “My way” or nobody. Zambian football is going down right before our eyes due to lack of leadership at FAZ. So what now? Is Faz going to ask Janza to stay as coach after bashing him that he was not qualified? This is what happens when you have no leadership at all.
The so called “great Kalu” with all his connections and such I AM SURE CAN MOBILISE RESOURSES and find a good expat coach. He flies all over the globe as FAZ leader, its time he parlays all those trips and connections into something worthwhile. We can not always go to the GRZ hat in hand beggin for money. whats Kalusha and his executive doing about this?
Don’t even think of kalu, h s just an idiot. Has no brains watsover to b a leader.
Well i hope the money is not going into PF ministers accounts… Anyway, all this happens while our golden generation is supposed to be in their prime, while one of if not the greatest Zambian captain is frozen out due to insecure rookie coach.
Doldrums we are there.
Former faz president mr teddy mulonga was always featuring on phone in programmes explaining things like this one.
Blaming Kalusha won’t take Zambia any where. He has made mistakes yes, but I don’t want for one moment to think that one individual is to blame for the disgraceful performances we’ve seen in 2015 by our respective teams.
Power Dyanamos, Zesco Utd can’t even reach the group stages of African club competition; and you want to blame Kalu? What are you smoking folks?
Question is: how many professional players do we have that are playing regularly for their clubs in “real” leagues? When shall we start questioning the ambitions of our players.
At the end of the day teams we once considered as weaklings are fast surpassing us. you want an example? Cape Verde. We used to massacre these guys back then. but now they have a far stronger side than we do. (And they beat Portugal few weeks ago in a friendly). Why? Players in Cape Verde work towards playing in Europe while our players are content with posh living in RSA, Lubumbashi or somewhere in Amenia.
Our administrators, govt, and league may be amateurish but should that hinder our personal drive to realise our full potential? Where is your pride lads?
Oh! On the question of the coach, whatever the decision-makers are deliberating, with all due respect, DO NOT consider returning Honour Janza.
I also personally think the down slide is not only the luck of an exepereinced and coureguoues coach, how about the issue of players who I feel are just South Africa target oriented. The problem is the Faz administration, the coach and lastly the players hence the all system is soo pathetic.
Thats it!
So the Country broke ? can we dip into the recovered loot from ZAMTROOP account and the assets where they @? lebi mwailkongola for ama elections / slash funds , we are f$#@ed either way from plot no#1 to kalugugu stadium.
Much better instead of wasting resources on one man Kalu
When the country is broke, its Kalu!We have tried the corporate world song even before kalu came on the scene and it never worked out! Some folks are so obsessed with the Kalu syndrome that they fail to reason. This country does not have the money to pay a coach and this is reflection a number of economic challenges we are facing in the various sectors. The Ministry of Home Affairs just announced that they have scaled down on the number of new recruits for the police service due to lack of funds, there is a wage freeze due to the same challenge, all foreign service diplomatic postings have been put on hold again due to the same challenge. Why would you think soccer should be an exception?have we become so dull that we cant reason even on obvious matters of national interest?
Do you want FAZ to bring in an expatriate coach and then fail to pay him?We may not have any choice but go with the local coach.FAZ as usual did their part and presented a budget which in my own opinion was even modest.Where do you get a top class coach with $25,000?
The lack of substance in discussions has diluted this forum!
Janza is good .but what killed him is jealous towards senior players . Leaving chris .fwayo .jacob and others has tarnished his name during the last afcon . Now since the government is block faz stick to local coaches .lwandamina and fighton are suitable
The problem in zambia is that even if government had to give moni to the association to bring in an expartriste coach, the people tasked to bring in a coach wil stil bring in a coach with no track record atall.
We are not seriours our leaders are not prepared to take our great nation to another level.money brings money,if we won’t be carefully on this one Zambian football will continue to deminish and we won’t go to the worldcup
No monies (broke association) = Local coach (Janza and company).
Monies = expatriate coach
For how long????
Value what is at hand invest in it you will get the best.
Local is Laka
Zamfoot has no stories anymore? Are they even monitoring our players based outside Zambia?
Unless money for campaigns and staging political rallies.
We can do this with our little resources we just have to trust the local coach it is going to be hard but am 100% positive that we will rise from the ashes even much stronger,ABASH foreign Coach.
how foolish if you have money go outside to spend when you have little to none look to your own.
