The Chipolopolo striking duo of Justine Shonga and Brian Mwila has been consistent on getting the goals, since making their debuts in national team colours.
It’s a rare moment to have a striking partner that maintains their scoring prowess from the word go, as it is the case with Shonga and Mwila.
Credit goes to Zambia national team coach Wedson Nyirenda for having handed the duo, their first opportunities in Chipolopolo colours. It paid off, and they are certainly prospects to spearhead the attack, should Zambia make it to the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya.
Despite being around for a while on the local scene, at Green Buffaloes, Brian Mwila’s name come to the limelight when he netted for Zambia in an international friendly against a Bafana Bafana side, that had defeated Nigeria 2-0 few days prior.
As for Justine Shonga, he alongside Mwila carried Zambia on the shoulder at the 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup in South Africa. The duo was today on the score sheet as they beat Swaziland 3-0–7-0 on aggregate in the 2018 CHAN qualifiers.
The Nkwazi striker, Shonga opened the scorings in the 3rd minute when he pounced off a poor cleared ball by the Shlangu defenders. Then, Mwila doubled the lead from a John Chingandu’s assist.
In total the lanky and powerful forward, Mwila has netted 5 goals whereas his partner in crime, skilful gifted Shonga has 4 goals to his name, within a short stint–few months from their débuts.

Brian Mwila plays like Jacob Mulenga. It is unbelievable that he has being around in the league.
It’s good for Zambian football that now there’s stiff competition upfront there with the likes of FASHION SAKALA, PATSON DAKA, BRIAN MWILA & JUSTIN SHONGA Zambia will soon be feared by many teams! In the Midfielder positions also are hot with with the likes of ENOCK MWEPU, EMMANUEL BANDA, CHISAMBA LUNGU, FWAYO TEMBO & KONDWANI MTONGA!
I feel there’s less competition at the back in defense; Only limited number of good defenders with the likes of King pin STOPILA SUNZU, ZIYO TEMBO, FACKSON KAPUMBU, ISAAC SHAMUJOPA!
In goal; I also feel there’s less and/or no competition, only one or two keepers are seen to compete with KENNEDY MWEENE { NSABATA TOASTER & ALLAN CHIBWE }: More work to be done by the goal keeping department!
@ Aba Yellow: Where is my Mwepu , by the way? I don’t hear of him
I agree with u,Excellent!
Brother Babs, I mentioned your and my MWEPU in the Midfielder as the first name!!!
Oooh Okay! I got your question; MWEPU is playing in Australia at a club called LIEFERING FC that’s the same club PATSON plays for! They are all getting a starting Xi berths! I confirm to you that they are shining and enjoying!! Tefyo ba Brother Babs!!!!
Austria not Australia
These guys should play in the August game -Zambia Vs Algeria ,for us to win
Why not?
Thank You ba @ C2 for agreeing with my analysis!
Just hoping the Coach will extend his hands to Call some of these super under 20 players! Especially the super five!!!!
They have to prove themselves when faced with a tough defence like the one for Nigeria or Algeria. Mwila looks a good prospect. Pair him up front with player with pace like Patson Daka or F. Sakala you likely to see goals.
Foget Mbesuma, Kalengo, Sinuluma these guys have done their part for Zambia. We salute them all.
Lekeni abena Mbesuma na Kalengoal batusheko…otherwise thanks for all you’ve done. Every good thing comes to an end.
True true! To partner them like that definitely there will be goals!!!
